Lovely homely armosphere in quiet part of town. Excellent helpful staff. Superb sea food. Only disappointment was the pool which is very small; but the warm hospitality more than compensates!

Good luxury option in central Fort Cochin
Amazing suite which you would expect at that price. While the restaurant is in a very nice setting, the food was a bit of a let down given the price.

The best hotel in India (out of 7)
I can't think of a single bad thing I could say about this hotel. They got everything right, down to the last detail. The staff are friendly and seem to genuinely care about their guests and are obviously proud of their hotel. Allen on reception in particular was a star.

Cute place. It's India, so don't expect much. Just be pleasantly surprised if and when it works out. Great art. Mediocre food. Decent room, but bathroom flooding issues, noise from the courtyard, and lots of mosquitos (not really their fault) prob pushes this down a few notches. Surprised this is a Relais property. But it's the price of a Holiday Inn at, like, the Cleveland Airport, so what can you expect? The colonial architecture and interiors were nicely done. Kerala is turning dry, so only beer and wine at the bar. And Fort in Kochi is really only worth your time for a night...it's a bit boring after you see all the standard tourist stuff.

Charming boutique hotel with great restaurant
This is a charming, historic, beautifully renovated property in the centre of the old part of Kochi, within walking distance of great shops, the Chinese fishing nets, and other historic buildings. The restaurant, in a central courtyard, was absolutely fantastic. We found the beds quite hard and uncomfortable. And we had some problems in the bathroom -- the hand-held shower unit pulled out completely from the wall, as did the control for the sink faucet. A bit of a surprise, given this is a Relais and Chateaux property. The staff was very apologetic, but didn't offer us anything to make up for the inconvenience. A nice hotel for India, but am unsure whether it's truly worthy of Relais and Chateaux status.

Not worth the price
The hotel was good and we enjoyed our stay, but I wouldn't consider it worth the price we paid. You can get much better price/quality ratio arpund Kerala elsewhere. However the hotel is one of the few on the area which has alcohol license.

Excellent place to stay in Fort Cochin. Walking distance to the town. The staff were excellent. Live music at dinner time was fantastic. Overall - A+. This is our second time at the Malabar House and will never stay any other place while in Fort Cochin.

Lovely boutique hotel in Fort Kochi
I am a business traveller and usually stay at the Kochi Marriot, near Lu Lu Mall, or Taj Gateway; on this trip I decided to try an alternative hotel. I was not disappointed. From the airport pick up, with Wi-Fi in the vehicle and a helpful and informed driver, to the welcoming staff on arrival, the experience was much enjoyed. The hotel is an oasis after a busy day. The staff well trained and attentive. My dinner of Kerala seafood on the first night was delicious and beautifully presented. But be aware that if you want full flavoured, spicy Indian food you may have to ask - the menu caters more for a European palate.

A gem in the centre of Fort Kochi
This was our second stay at Malabar House in March 2016. Our bedroom number 16 was decorated in beautiful antique objects of art and very roomy. Just outside our door was a tropical garden and sparkling swimming pool. Dining at night in the garden was very special accompanied by musicans and the presentation of the food was excellent and well priced.

Comfort & peace - old world style!
Was there with family for 2 nights on a summer getaway. The location of Malabar House was great as we could walk to rhe beach, the church, the Kathakali centre & excellent neighbourhood restaurants. The rooms are spacious & have old world charm! The food was delicious though from a limited menu. The swimming pool was good enough for a dip in the hot noon hours!

Lovely staff and accommodation.
We had a great time , the staff are very friendly and helpful. The suit we had was wonderful, except that there is no glass in the Windows in the bathroom, but once you get used to it, it's fine. Everywhere was clean, although would not swim in the pool because of the location, right next the restaurant. Well worth paying a bit extra for the location.

Marvelous colonial hotel
This is a marvelous colonial hotel with a modern facelift that makes it comfortable and fun. The staff is nice. Juthin at the front desk took great care of us during our stay. The room was comfortable, and the menu at the restaurant was ambitious and pretty tasty. The location was great and all in all our stay was perfect.

Fort Kochi is a great location. It is a two hundred year old fort that is in the heart of an ancient trading port. There are ancient Chinese fishing nets, the house where Vasco da Gama supposedly stayed when he came to Kerala, an ancient Jewish settlement, cute little shops and nice restaurants. The hotel itself is a small boutique hotel built across two ancient houses with a gorgeous atrium that connects the two. It is a contemporary take on ancient Kerala architecture with great food, great staff and a variety of services. The rooms are not as plush as you might expect, but the design represents Kerala's low key take on luxury. So the hotel has a very authentic and unique feel.

We stayed for 3 nights for a break after some work in mumbai. It was monsoon season so the hotel was quiet and we found it very relaxing. This was lovely if you like a peaceful time but I believe the experience would be different in high season. This place is full of character with interesting art and furnishings. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and found the food to be excellent. staff were friendly and helpful.

Overall good - some quirks that need attention
Overall a comfortable stay. The manager and the front desk staff tries hard and mostly gets it right. The rooms have a nice decor with artistic elements and although we did run in to some minor issues with room conditions - temperature/water etc, the staff were able to resolve them to the best extent possible. This is an old building with a lot of charm, so I understand the maintenance can't be flawless. I wish the staff could be a bit more innovative and open about suggestions on places to eat outside the hotel restaurant and what to visit and see. That added genuine effort to to make the overall experience staying at fort kochi could make me come back again. Without that, I will have to think twice about fort kochi over all. Had a bad experience with the massage/spa though - the manager was kind enough to not charge for it though and take extra off the bill. Hope they can address that specially if they advertise the spa experience a lot. Will give them a try again for sure.

When we arrived the rooms we booked were not quite ready so was instantly offered a free upgrade The hotel itself is very very good and the staff were tremendous We had lunch and dinner in hotel and was a very high standard so well pleased and would certainly recommend this hotel 1 last note the complimentary wi was also good and would book this hotel again when in the area

We visited in off season so the hotel was not busy which was great for us. Very helpful staff who arranged everything for us even suggesting and arranging a visit to one of the other Malabar resorts which was wonderful. The food was delicious and varied making the hotel restaurant a popular dining spot in Ft. Cochin. Because of a problem in our room we were upgraded to a great suite and had an overall idyllic few days. Will go back.

Great Restaurant
The hotel was a welcome luxury at the end of my India trip. I booked it for the pool, but this was small and popular with the pigeons. The room was spacious and comfortable, but the shower was hand held which was a little disappointing. The staff were great and breakfast and dinner in the restaurant delicious.

Very close to all the sights. The staff were very friendly and helpful.THe food at the restaurant was beautiful and the massages at the spa were great. My husband and I had a wonderful time and we would not hestiate to go back to the Malabar House in future.

the hotel is located in a very attractive location, however, it is 1.5 hour away from the airport. hotel condition is great as it makes you feel welcome. my only conserns was that the mattres was hard abd unconfortable

Hotel inaffidabile
L'hotel, contravvenendo a quanto dichiarato al momento della prenotazione, mi ha addebitato l'intero pagamento due giorni prima del check in. Al momento del mio arrivo, alle 21,30, prima ha finto di non sapere che eravamo tre adulti, poi di fronte all'evidenza dei miei documenti, ci hanno raccontato che il soffitto della nostra stanza era crollato e che quindi ci avrebbero trasferite a un altro albergo analogo, il Fragrance Nature. Sebbene quest'ultimo non sia risultato pienamente di nostro gradimento, in quanto assolutamente pacchiano e in posizione molto meno comoda del Malabar House da noi prenotato, avendo già forzosamente pagato in anticipo, siamo state costrette a fare buon viso a cattivo gioco e ad accettare. Non mi era mai successo primo d'ora un comportamento così scorretto da parte di un albergo prenotato tramite Hotels.com. Vi prego di prendere provvedimenti, perché la sottrazione di soldi dal conto non autorizzata è fatto gravissimo.

中庭で毎日インド音楽のライブが夜８時から１０時まで騒がしい。
その後スピーカーで１１時まで音楽を流している。本来静かに過ごせるホテルを期待して６泊予約したが３泊。後の３泊は系列の他のホテルに避難した。

Très bel hôtel de charme
Le Malabar House est décoré avec goût. La chambre ainsi que l'entièreté de l'établissement sont très bien entretenus et propres. Notre chambre offrait un petit jardin privé; le luxe! Le petit déjeuner ainsi que les repas y sont excellents. La piscine est très agréable pour se rafraichir. Nous recommandons fortement pour un séjour à Cochin (hôtel de plus très bien situé par rapport aux points touristiques à visiter).

Great colonial feeling in the Hotel. Fantastic staff and food. The pool and relaxing area very small. Make sure you get terass towards pool area. We will use this hotel when returning to Cochi
