SARGASSO Update: The Caribbean Sea has been experiencing higher volumes of Sargasso sea grass in recent years. This sea grass can wash up and pile on the beach and create an unpleasant smell as it decays. It is most prevalent on the North and East side of the island. In large amounts it prevents enjoyable use of our beach. The west end of the island has beautiful beaches that are almost always sea grass free. The Sargasso grass is most prevalent during the hotter months of late July - September. This condition is unpredictable on a week to week basis and something that is totally out of our control.
