We picked this property to get away from it all and hike Caprock Canyons state park. We loved the property. Cabin had everything we needed. Breakfast fixings left for us were fab. Love the rock cabin, barn and property. We hiked down to the pond and did some target shooting. Saw some bunnies, deer and birds.
We got in 1 day at Caprock and then a snow and ice storm came. We were snowed in the cabin 2 days which was fine. We read, watched Netflix and relaxed. The internet and cell work great. Then unfortunately one night we lost power due to the ice taking down power lines. It was getting way too cold in the cabin.
Our hostess went out of her way to make sure we were safe. She offered to have her husband come get us in his 4 wheel drive. She offered us to come to their place and sit by the fireplace and tried to find us a room in town. All of town was without power. We were able to drive out and get a room with power in Amarillo. She then refunded us 1 night.
So it all worked out and was quiet the adventure for us no experience snow people.
Will book again to hike Caprock but take the snow forecast more seriously. We thought oh it will be so pretty in the snow, but didn’t realize the power and road situation.
