Location is great

Posted 26-Jul-2016
Location is great. That's about it. Staff was not nice, especially at the bar. Air conditioning was limited, even in the room. Asked twice for it to be fixed, never was. The view from the room was about the only highlight. For a first trip to Chicago, hotel was ok being we barel spent any time in hotel. However we won't stay in it again due to staff and hotel unde construction. Seemed like most staff dos no want to be there. No smiles from most.

Excellent location.

Pros: Location
Excellent location. Friendly staff. Gifts were given to my girls when we checked in. The only issue was they could get rid of a few of the Owens that seemed old and had threads. Some pillows were flat as well. I will definitely return of o that hotel.

Not up to Wyndham Grand Standards

Posted 13-Jul-2016
Pros: Clean and no street noise, just the elevators going all the time. Staff was polite.
Cons: Get rid of the rainfall shower heads and get some lighting in the rooms
Location: Location is great. Walking distance to Millenium Park, Navy Pier, North Michigan Ave. and 360/Chicago. Close to "L" and buses.
Overall, I found the hotel to be very good, however, there were items that bugged me and which I considered not up to Wyndham Grand standards. When I checked in I let them know that I was a + Gold Expedia member so they supposedly gave me an upgrade to a river view room. Then they went and stuck me in a room next to the elevator shafts so I could hear the roar of the elevators and the ding-ding of the bells all night. Didn't consider that an upgrade at all. Just an excuse to get an undesirable room occupied. Inside the room there were very dim (40 watt?) LED bulbs in all the lamps so I had to turn all four of them on in the room to be able to read or see much of anything after dark. The room was still very dark. I realize they are a "Green" hotel but there should be a limit when it comes to customer convenience. At least the bathroom had sufficient lighting but I hated the waterfall shower fixture. No pressure. When I first got to the room and went to store my valuables in the safe, it wouldn't lock. Kept getting an error. I called down to the desk and it took them 45 minutes to send someone there with four new AA batteries to get the thing working again. Their restaurant is a joke. Bad food and way overpriced. If you want a much cheaper and better breakfast go to the Corner Bakery Cafe on the corner. All in all, not up to the Wyndham Grand standards for me. I liked the hotel much better when it was the Hotel 71 before Wyndham got their hands on it.

Great hotel on the Chicago River.

Posted 12-Jul-2016
Great location. First room did not have a view of the river, disappointed. Next day we moved to another room with a river view, much better. Great little restaurant in the hotel Hoyts. Walking distance to Michigan Avenue, Navy Pier, Millennium Park. Great City. Friendly people.

Great Loop Location!

Posted 8-Jul-2016
Pros: Location, Convenience and a noon checkout time.
Cons: nothing noted
Location: The River Walk is a great place to enjoy food and fun...Situated between Michigan Ave and State St, you are near theatre, great dining spots.
on Cubs game day, we were able to check in early to make the 1:20 game time...thanks so much! we had a very quiet room on the 9th floor and enjoyed this great Wacker Dr location for more Chicago fun right by the Chicago River.

This hotel was pleasant. The room was large, clean and had a great view of Chicago and the river.
