Brighton Park is a largely residential neighborhood on Chicago's Far South Side. Borrowing its name from Brighton, Massachusetts, the area is known for being a hub of trucking and transportation. But, despite its industrial and commercial draws, it's mostly a blossoming residential area home to Chicagoans who want easy access to the city but having a quiet neighborhood to call their own. Brighton Park attracts folks from all across the city looking for a true community to call home.

Ride-sharing apps or public transportation is what we recommend especially if you plan on going into the city where parking is hard and/or expensive to find. A train ride is often faster than driving during peak traffic hours and maximizing your time in the area is key during a short stay.

Parking is usually not too difficult on this block, but can get tighter in the evenings.

Great affordable place in a not-so-affordable city.
My son and I stayed here for his volleyball tournament. Other families stayed in hotels where they paid $80/day to park their cars. We parked right in front of the apartment and were able to cook meals and go to our separate rooms at the end of the night. I will say that the place is not built for two dudes over 6' 4", but then again, not much in this world is so can't hold that against them. Enjoyed our time there and would stay again.

Fall Break
My nephew and I spent his Fall Break exploring the city (his first time!). The bus stop being right across the street was very convenient, as was the Orange Line stop nearby. Neighborhood is moderately quiet, picks up due to school and local business during the day. Other tenants in building were friendly and not overly noisy, although the structure is older and you can hear a lot, both inside and out. We had a seamless experience with our host, hope to stay again in the future!

Weird smell
The host was really nice and let us check in one hour earlier than the regular checking time which was really nice. However, upon arriving the place had a weird smell we thought somebody smocked weed inside the apartment and decided to open the windows thinking the smell was going to go away but it never did, we went and bought a candle for the smell to be better. The bathroom was not clean at all the bathtub is completely black making it imposible to see anything and on top of that the drainage was really bad having dirty water standing for a long time. Something that really grossed us out was looking at the bathroom ceiling and seeing human hair all over the ceiling. You can also hear everything from other neighbors even them fighting, we also noticed that when the neighbors smoke cigarettes the smell comes inside and spreads throughout the apartment and coming from someone that doesn’t smoke this made me have constant headaches making me feel sick all the stay. The pictures was what pushed us to make the reservation but they are not really accurate at all. Wifi was great and being able to watch tv made the stay a little better also washer and dryer are available that was a plus too. Kitchen and living room areas where okay and the connection with the city was great. If owner can improves what was mentioned above and specially the smell it can be a good place to stay.

Weekend in Chicago
It was a nice place, just far enough away from the city but extremely convenient cta stations to get to downtown quickly. The bus station was right outside our door and down the street was the train station at 35th and Archer. You can buy your day passes for public transport there. My son absolutely loved the arcade machine. He said more than once "this is the best place we have stayed in" but he did have one complaint. The second room was underneath the stairs. Apparently the people who live upstairs are up late at night and he said he struggled to sleep. The bedroom door have rear plugs and despite those complaints, he didn't use them. The kitchen was lacking in some supplies but if you need and ask for something, they will get it for you. Try to ask in advance of needing stuff because it's Chicago and it might take them time to acquire it. I always stay in places with a kitchen because I'm a chef and I like to prepare my own meals when possible. I tried to make sure I brought things that I will need when cooking that I don't expect a VRBO to have but I didn't bring a griddle for pancakes and they acquired one for us within 12 hrs. I'd asked over 24 hrs before needing to make them. The thermostat was in a weird place and I struggled to find it. It's behind the standing lamp by the couch. Two people in the main bedroom made us get too warm at night but if you knock the thermostat down a few degrees and sleep with the door open, this doesn't happen. Word limits...........
