Villa Dubois owns more than one property. I never received any communications from them before my stay and checked out their website, which had specific instructions mentioned nowhere on Expedia.
When you call, there’s no option to speak to anyone OR to even leave a message. They say to email or text only. I sent 2 texts and one email before my booking and never heard back. I never received emails with how to access the property, and when I arrived the housekeeper refused to let me in by using Google translate to tell me her boss said no.
I finally received a text from her boss saying there was an issue to the room I had and I would have to walk 3 blocks away to another of their homes. I did and still couldn’t get in because I hadn’t received the access instructions email.
Once I finally did, there were only 2 towels for my 4 day visit, one of which was torn and stained, dead gnats and mosquitoes in the bathroom, someone else’s toilet paper in the toilet, no shampoo, conditioner or soap and the thermostat had a lock on it where I couldn’t adjust the temperature.
They charged me a deposit outside of Expedia when I checked in via square and didn’t opt to refund it until a week after I checked out, and it took another week to go through.
I cannot believe I was made to walk around bronzeville with my luggage and groceries with no way to contact them, and they refused to pay for my Uber or Lyft to the next house just for it to be in the shape it was in.
