My wife and I stayed at The James for 5 nights while we visited Chicago. An excellent location but it falls short of being an excellent hotel because of small little things. For example, the double toilet paper roll doesn't break on the same perforation on the upper tissue vs the lower tissue. Why? ...
Great location with ease of getting to the L, Magnificent Mile, Lakeshore, etc. Some very nice restaurants around it. Nicely appointed rooms and a decent view of the city.
We only stayed one night, but left wanting to return. CAA is very near Grant Park and the theater district- about 2 blocks from Private Bank theater where Hamilton is playing. It is very interesting from an architecture and design standpoint, they've done a great job keeping the heritage of the place ...
we paid for a updated room which was nice but the lack of detail to repairs is evident, fireplace glass loose and ready to fall out, loose dishwasher handle, ripped back of chair. We asked to replace our dirty wine glasses and coffee mugs and they were not.
Great hotel, very nice rooms, very clean and close to Michigan avenue shopping and also close to Millennium Park. (Walking distance for both)
The Thompson hotel was amazing. We loved the area it was in! Surrounded by little restaurants and shopping. Very european feel. Hotel staff was incredible and helpful. Loved our room and view! We also used the car service and it was fabulous! We will definitely be back!

Extra ...
Walking down The Magnificent Mile®, your eyes widen to marvel all of the beautiful things dotting the avenue. With tons of first-rate restaurants and designer shops, a stroll down this posh stretch of Chicago is only the beginning of a luxury vacation in the city.
While The Magnificent Mile® is one of the best places to start a vacation, it’s hardly the only thing to see in Chi-Town.
Check out the Art Institute of Chicago, which is home to over 300,000 works of art. The museum has featured everything from Byzantium and Greek collections to Japanese prints and local photography. If you like your art a little more in the air than on the ground, head to Willis Tower. Once the tallest building in America, the tower features its own historical exhibits at the top. It also includes an observation deck you can’t miss. Don’t worry if you feel a sway; the building was designed to do that. One thing you won’t mind swaying to is the music of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Commonly referred to as one of the “Big Five” orchestras in the country, it’s been generously praised for decades.
A lavish time doesn’t have to stop once you get back to your luxury hotel in Chicago. Choose a spot that offers amenities like in-house spas, 24/7 room service, and other perks to make you feel like the world-class traveller you are. And don’t worry about paying top dollar for it. Book your hotel in Chicago right here on Expedia.ca for the best discounts on accommodations in the city, including luxury rooms and suites.
With attractions like the symphony and The Magnificent Mile® awaiting you, you can count on nothing less than an elegant time in the Windy City.
