Fancier Hilton Hotel downtown Chicago

Posted 27-Mar-2017
You get what you pay for in a good way. Restaurants and little Cafe were pricey, but that's the city for you.

1/4 of my stay was dealing with issues

Posted 7-Mar-2017
Pros: It is beautiful and was conveniently located to the seminar taking place.
Cons: This is a high-end hotel. All in all, we were treated like 2nd class citizens. Was it because we booked through Expedia?
Location: Between all the problems at the hotel, and attending a seminar every day, there wasn't time to explore the sites.
1) Hilton Honors would not give me points for the stay because it was booked through a third party. 2) The room was next to the stairwell and overlooked the L Subway - noisy enough but there was a lot of stairwell traffic, on 20th floor - suspicous. A 1,200 teen conference was underway. I opened the door and there was a man in the hallway texting, appearing to meet people, lots of whispering. I asked if he was with the hotel. 'No' so I reported it to the hotel. 3) the room didn't have tissues, hair dryer, and very few hangers. 4) We weren't able to sleep so I went to reception desk next day to ask for a room change. I was worried about retaliation for reporting the incident. 5) They upgraded our room away from the stairwell. She provided 2 tickets for free breakfast for the inconvenience but by the time we moved rooms, breakfast was over. I'm hypoglycemic so between lack of sleep, no shower, and no food ... I was frazzled. 6) Another representative asked what she could do to make it right. I asked for a meal. She returned to say they wanted the breakfast tickets returned before issuing meal tickets. That restaurant opened at 2 pm so I still had to wait. Another trip to the room? More energy? But I did so. 7) The frig froze all our contents and she asked what I expected them to do about it. More drama. 8) 1 pack of cigarettes was $18.18 and I had to pay for a paper bag to put merchandise in!

we had 13 people in a group stay and we could not ask for it to be better. Great location, good staff, and parking was easy.

Loved It!

Posted 19-Feb-2017
Pros: Very close to public transportation, food, and the Lake.
Cons: Bed sheets were a bit scratchy. We were told that the room would have a view when purchasing through Expedia. We had no view expect of a building.
Location: I live in Chicago already, but really enjoyed getting to know another part of the city.
Really liked how close it was to the beach, we walked to Lake Michigan very easily. The pool was also very nice and clean! Overall a very good experience.

nice hotel

Good location and a very clean hotel. I like the style of it as well since it is different from the lobby to your room but it has everything you need.

A long weekend to visit family.

Posted 8-Feb-2017
Our first trip to Chicago was greatly enhanced by the staff, location and beauty of the Hilton Hotel on Michigan Ave. From the Doorman to the Porters, phone Operators, and Food Servers, etc., all we interacted with were helpful, knowledgeable, timely and pleasant. The Hotel has a long American history and wonderfully preserved elegance. Our room was very clean and comfortable with updated bathrooms. As a bonus, we had a fabulous view of the southwest shore of Lake Michigan. The Ferris Wheel on the Pier across the street was lit up at night with waves of colors and in the morning sun it sparkled like a giant ring of diamonds. Nice! Available taxi rides to everywhere we wanted to go. It was good and easy visit to a beautiful city.

Close to the lake

Posted 7-Feb-2017
Pros: location, beautiful old building
Cons: clean the rooms, get hot water in the bathroom sink
Location: close to Soldier's Park, close to the subway
We were given a handicapped room. There was no hot water in the bathroom sink. The shades didn't block out all the daylight. There was dust on all the bedside tables and lamps. This makes me wonder if handicapped people are treated like second class citizens in this hotel (or if Expedia) guests are.

Holiday with family

Posted 1-Jan-2017
We booked 2 rooms via Expedia for Christmas holiday. Simple check in and check out. Really appreciate the option to self park for "free." Christmas night we relaxed in the lounge with great appetizers and a live piano performance. We enjoyed holiday decore and the historical elements of the hotel.
