It was late, dark but no wind and fairly calm, nearby hotels and BnB coming down Alishan were all fully booked (because of the park closure), luckily, found this Green Hotel in Chiayi and were able to book 3 rooms. Rooms were spacious, clean with a good layout separating toilet and shower area. Next morning we found a 5 star rated cafe in an alley just around the corner, run by a young barista, a winner of business start-up sponsored by the Chiayi city's Economic Affairs Dept, coffee beans roasted on site, grounded right before brewing, with a relaxing seating area. Note: it's NOT near the park in the hotel pictures. The front desk staff were not friendly and not very quick with their jobs. The rooms are newly renovated with modern interior decoration. However, the toilet and shower are confined and poorly lit. Both also reek of drain smell, so the extractor fan has to be kept on. It took a lot of effort to open the window in my room as well. I was intrigued by the 3M earplugs on the table until the night fell, and the noise from the street below and the corridors continued to pour in.
