I had book two rooms and the self-check in could not cope with that. I ended up having to go and find someone as they would not come to the check-in area. Once I found someone, I was advised that check-in for multiple room bookings not working was a known issue! My interaction with the staff at check-in and check-out was not good they were dismissive and made us feel like a burden. Can't fault the room for the price, and that it was dog friendly. Interesting self check-in process - very impressed. Food in the pub was ok but expensive for what you got, also don't like when pubs advertise elements on a dish which you never end up getting. Build your own ice-cream was missing half the things you say you can get, brisket didn't have any sauce and the kids mac and cheese was surprisingly devoid of cheese! It was in the process of being renovated which, had I known in advance, I would not have stayed here. At around 7AM I was woken up by loud machinery directly outside my hotel room. The area outside the hotel was full of builders, The on site restaurant was shut and so there were no breakfast facilities, which I had been relying on being available. I was given an insincere apology and was refused a refund by the very rude staff member hiding in a back office. The fact that the hotel was undergoing refurbishment was not mentioned anywhere when booking. I was woken up at 7AM by loud machinery and builders directly outside my room. The restaurant was also closed for refurbishment and so there was no breakfast available despite the property advertising that there was. When I mentioned this to the reception staff, she was totally not interested and just stated that there would be no refund. A disappointing stay mainly as a result of false advertising. The hotel is currently under refurbishment which means there is no breakfast, or dining facilities. The room itself was lovely, well decorated and comfortable no problem with that but we paid £221 for just a room and a bed! The hotel did contact us via email after I made my booking but I had booked a non-refundable stay so couldn’t change. They also did offer a takeaway breakfast option but as a family we wanted the chance to have a good hearty breakfast before a long walk and then the chance to relax in the restaurant in the evening. So for that really disappointing. The staff once in attendance were helpful and polite. The breakfast was good with the average English breakfast options available.
