It was great to stay at a historic landmark hotel that is maintained to the highest standards. The staff is exceptionally efficient, courteous and helpful. The breakfast and lunch options were simply outstanding. Being centrally located right on mount road it was easy to get around to other places in the city.
Highly recommend staying at this wonderful hotel and enjoy your Chennai trip.
It’s old property the recently remodeled property and the area next to our room looks abandoned and left depleted
Brought to Managers notice and provided photos to fix
Surprised the great Tata management let it allowed in this poor condition
beautiful hotel ambience and rooms are lovely. Friendly and courteous staff. Spa was fabulous as well as the hair salon. Thank you for making my stay very comfortable.
Beautiful grounds, including the pool area. Delicious but pricey dining. Attentive staff. Great breakfast. Antique decorative elements and old prints incorporated in the interior design.
This is my 3rd time I stayed in this hotel with my family and my experience was amazing. We were treated like we belong to a royal family. For every entry and exit from the hotel, a porter will always be there to open the door for you. I stayed for 5 days and either Saravanan or Saravanan B opened the door for me and helped me loading and unloading the luggage from the taxi. We were greeted by their front desk as if we belong to a royal family. Rosa welcomed us by making us wear a spiritual garland and served a honey-lemon drink, was delicious. We were escorted to our room and our luggage was already sent in our room. They have a restaurant on the ground floor named Veranda. We had both breakfast and dinner in Veranda. Food was delicious and there were quite a few options from Indian traditional food to Western. A Prabhakaran is the magic chef and I admire his modesty and hospitality. They offer buffet in breakfast and if you had the breakfast you won't even need lunch. I am short in words for the hospitality I received from customer relationship managers S Lokanath, Rishab, and Anjali. They were with us until we were done with our breakfast or dinner asking us if we need anything. Since my family was unable to make it in-person, S Lokanath and Rishab arranged in-room dinning and sent the food as per my wife and kids liking. If I ever again visit Chennai, I will definitely stay in this hotel.

This property is a heritage hotel in Chennai. This property has been updated recently and yet preserves some colonial character.
It is clean and modern inside. The kitchen is amazing. Taj breakfast at its best. Staff is very nice and helpful at all times. Rooms are very clean and well maintained
I enjoyed my stay once again. What a fantastic crew of staff! My special mentions would be Lokanath and Yuvaraj from the Verndah! I was served flawlessly by them both each time I ate the restaurant. I don’t think I will look beyond Connemara for my stay in Madras. There may be better places in convenience and ambience but the staff here make all the difference.
Outstanding factor for our stay over 5 days was the warmth of the staff.
Would surely return because of ALL dining staff - Mr Bhaskaran was superbly attentive, concierge Mr Caleb and Balaji and the very first face I encountered at front desk, Mr Salam. I commend them all for excellent service. Makes the stay memorable.
Was there for 2 nights with family, great stay , good breakfast spread , bit repetitive but great taste, room pool area all beautiful, staff was courteous as always in any taj , but of a drainage issue with the bathtub, but overall an excellent experience, most recommended
While the Taj Connemara exudes grace charm as a uniquely traditional and up-market colonial-style hotel in Egmore, Madras (Chennai), we were particularly impressed by the consistently high level of customer service by all staff we encountered. Among them, all the breakfast team - including the Supervisor (whose name slips us), Shaji and all others who served us over 3 mornings. We would also like to mention Puja and Monika who greeted us on arrival, and all in the Concierge team (whose names we are remiss in not taking down).
This place feels home every time I visit here and staff and service simply outstanding right from Manager : Mayank, Front Desk : Niharika, Saleem and Monika , The check in staff : Saravanan, The whole crew at Restuarant : Bhaskaran, Shahi, Rishabh. Our experience here has always been fantastic . Highly recommend this place if you are staying in Chennai .

Liked: Staff & service
Staff and their services was great. Hotel is dire need of upgrade and uplift.
Connemara is in a great location- central for most things. Staff are lovely, very helpful, but restaurant/ drink service painfully slow. Food generally good.
Hotel is a beautiful building but is looking a little tired in places, needs a bit of an update. However, I would stay again, but these things could be improved.
We had a lovely stay at Taj Connemara in one of the heritage rooms.
The staff here are excellent, they were very attentive to our needs and provided a wonderful service. The property itself was extremely clean. We were there with our six month old baby and the hotel provided steamed vegetable purées at our request free of charge every day of the stay. We had lunch at the restaurant once and ordered from the in-room dining a few times and the food was always delicious.
There were a lot of mosquitoes in the lobby area and the room, which was disappointing at a five star hotel. The bathrooms in the room could also do with an upgrade. The second door in the shower wasn’t there which meant the bathroom was wet after a shower.
Having stayed in a few other five star hotels in India, I thought this property lacked the wow factor but a great team of staff from concierge to reception to food and beverage and laundry teams make you look past it. Thanks to Vijay and his team on the second floor for keeping our rooms clean.
