A fantastic historic house in a superb location
Middle Gable is a unique opportunity to stay in a very comfortable house which incredibly dates back to 1642. It is very well equipped, beautifully furnished and in a fantastic location in the heart of the Cotswolds. There are countless places to visit and many walks in the area.
We have stayed in many holiday cottages and this is one of the very best, full of character and history.
We will return and have already recommended it to our friends and family.

A lovely stay in Bourton
Me & some friends had a wonderful stay at Middle Gable. Cat was helpful in ensuring we got checked-in OK and the neighbours were friendly. Even with five of us, the house was spacious and charming, to fit the vibe of the lovely Cotswolds town that you're almost in the middle of. A wonderful stay & a great place that we'd recommend.

Lovely house
Lovely atmospheric property within minutes of the centre of town. Enough parking for two cars in the garage. Everything was in excellent order and the gardens surrounding the house were lovely.
It would have been helpful to have access a little earlier than 5.00pm and to be given the key code to get in at least a day before rather than 15 minutes before arrival at 5.00pm.

Lovely
We enjoyed our week at Middle Gable. The house is so warm and cosy. It’s very atmospheric as it’s such an old property. Cate is very friendly and always on hand if you need to contact her. The location is fantastic as it’s 2 mins from the hustle and bustle but still nice and quiet. Looking forward to coming back in the future

A holiday home steeped in history
If you want to feel on holiday in a bygone era but with the essential mod cons of modern living then this is the place to stay. TV, wi-fi, underfloor heating, fully fitted kitchen in surroundings befitting Henry the 8th. A fabulous and comfortable old 4 poster bed in a bedroom that makes you think you're time travelling. All surrounded by a beautiful and quiet English country garden and really close to the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water. We had a great few days away at Middle Gable relaxing and enjoying the many delights of the Cotswolds. Cate the owner couldn't have been more helpful, thank you for sharing your beautiful house.

Wonderful!
A stunning property, perfect location near to everything. The house is full of character in a beautiful setting with a very pretty garden. Very cozy at night with the wood-burner, bed very comfortable (super-king which is what we are used to). Cate was very helpful and we couldn't have asked for a better choice for a weekend break, could have stayed longer. We plan to return!

Wonderful Cotswold Property
Middle Cable embodied everything we were looking for during our stay in the Cotswold. From the enchanting construction of the property, to the beautiful garden area and interior details, everything enhanced our first visit together to this region of England.
The living spaces inside are very comfortable, and especially the huge master bed! The kitchen was very well equipped with everything to prepare light or full meals.
Cate was wonderful in her communications and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. It truly provided a very nice personal touch.
We are very pleased with the decision to select this property, and can highly recommend it for a visit to the Cotswolds.

Beautiful historic property in fabulous location.
This is every bit as charming as it appears in the photos. Very spacious and a well equipped kitchen. Could use a fan for hot days. The location is perfect for touring the Cotswolds. A privilege to stay in such a historic property for that price. Only negative for international travelers is the requirement to contact owner by phone for the key access code in advance. It cost us about $50 in two phone calls.

Some improvement needed
Check in at 5pm far too late and not warranted. Had to strip our own beds on last day which for the price we paid was ridiculous. No bins in kitchen to encourage recycling which didn’t make sense as had to collect rubbish in own bags anyway to take out to external bins. Banned from charging electric car, which as it turned out was a nightmare as local facilities really limited. Would only stay here again if they changed attitude to electric cars and check in time.. Neighbour’s lovely and very beautiful quirky old house in fabulous location with parking.

Travel Dreams Come True
Since moving to England, my travel dreams have been to 1) visit the Cotswolds, 2) stay in a majestic old home, and 3) enjoy the countryside. Staying at Middle Gable has allowed me to check all three of those things off my list. Middle Gable is situated right off the main tourist road of Bourton-on-the-Water and couldn't be more perfect. It is exactly what the Cotswolds of my imagination looked like; a gorgeous old home with a beautifully maintained garden. The house was probably bigger than what my small family of three needed, but once I saw the giant four-poster bed in the master bedroom, I knew I had to stay there. We felt like royalty! The whole house is charming and I loved it. Even the neighbors were friendly and came out to chat while we were in the garden.
If traveling with a small child like we did, our little girl is 18 months, be aware that there are knick-knacks within arms reach. Other than that, I can fully recommend this to anyone looking for a great place in a great village.
Cate was a gracious host who was available whenever we needed to talk to her. This home was well appointed, well furnished, and well maintained.

Second stay
We travelled from Australia to the UK for Christmas for the second time once we knew we could again stay at Middle Gable.
It was as wonderful as ever - such a beautiful and unique place to stay,
So very close to everything that we needed in the village and a beautiful time of the year to be in Bourton on the Water.
Host Cate was very responsive and helpful.
Many thanks
The Middle Gable at Bourton on the Water is a one of a kind experience as your accomodations were built in the 1600's. The home is charming. The town is absolutely lovely.
Phenomenal stay in such a glorious time capsule of the past. Loved the middle gable, appreciated owner dialoguing with us and the town so charming!

Lovely and cosy in central location
A lovely cottage in the centre of village surrounded by walks, pubs restaurants and shops. Well equipped and cosy wood burner for the evenings. Added bonus of parking.
This is a special property full of Cotswold charm and history, but also with all the modern conveniences. Just a leisurely five-minute stroll from the center of the village, yet away from all the touristy crowds.
Fantastic property in a great location. The village is a busy place and the restaurants and pubs were really welcoming. The local people were really friendly which made for a relaxing break all round.
Property owner Cate, explained everything, many thanks to her for an enjoyable stay.
We had a lovely weekend and this property is highly recommended
