Located on the 1st floor of a historic Charleston home built in the late 1800s, this suite overlooks Cannon Street's neighborhood & provides a true Charleston experience for guests. Walkable to MUSC, CofC, King Street’s most popular retail and restaurants, & more. The Space: The Kiawah Suite summons the essence of a truly refined Antebellum Charleston experience, through truly paired with every modern convenience. The kitchen is a timeless centerpiece, featuring a timeless La Cornue gas oven and cooktop from Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône, France, complemented by a whisper-quiet, American-made Vent-A-Hood. Guests are invited to celebrate Old World culinary traditions using top-of-the-line All-Clad cookware and glassware. Custom cabinetry, the kitchen island, and soaring eight-foot barn doors are handcrafted on-site from reclaimed heart pine, sourced during the home’s renovations. Entertainment is seemlessly modern with a Samsung 4k Smart television, offering complimentary access to Xfinity cable, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu. Each bedroom is designed for rest, offering sound machines and smart charging stations, surrounded by cypress shiplap walls and centuries-old heart pine—much of it dating back to the early 1600’s. All bathrooms are a masterful blend of history and luxury, tiled with original repurposed Vermont slate dating to 1851, when the house was built by shipwrights. It’s steps away from the College of Charleston, as well as Upper King Street’s eateries and shopping. Getting Around: There is plenty to see and places to visit within walking distance. Uber and Lyft are very common. You will not face any delay catching an uber. Other Things to Note: We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible restaurants such as Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Malagon, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat. If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started. We arrived late at night and the directions for accessing the property were clear and easy. The three bedrooms were perfect for this group of three sisters to have our own sleep space, yet join together in the kitchen and living areas for other activities. Great front porch! The Ladles cafe downstairs was also a delicious lunch spot. We walked to most activities we wanted to do in Charleston. Our hosts provided a detailed list of restaurants in the area. We had an absolutely fantastic time at the Charlestonian. I wish we would have had time to check out the owner’s restaurant next door (Southbound) … hopefully next time. ##### Patricia P. We had a fantastic stay at this lovely property. The accommodations were beautiful and the location couldn’t be beat. It was close to King Street with tons of restaurants and shops, yet the street was residential. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch, having drinks and people watching. The home is renovated beautifully and located within walking distance to everything. The house was clean and comfortable. The front porch was perfect for relaxing at night and people watching. George left a ton of great and detailed information to make guests enjoy their stay to the max! We would definitely stay in this historic gem again upon return.
