Younger guests will love visiting the animals at Foxdown Children's Farm, which is 12 miles away, while the history buffs marvel at the fantastic architecture at Forde Abbey and Gardens (9 miles) or the hill forts of the National Trust's Coney’s Castle (14 miles). The nearby market town of Ilminster (8 miles) is useful for picking up shopping, browsing independent boutiques, or settling down for a relaxed pub meal after a day out.


Step inside this storybook detached cottage, where charming period features continue throughout the house, from exposed stone and overhead beams to cosy inglenooks and tucked-away eaves. At its heart is a well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen, with a Tassimo machine for a morning coffee. Enjoy a quick bite to eat at the island breakfast bar, or carry feasts through to the dining room, where a circular table and six chairs create an inviting spot to gather. A useful WC sits nearby. Spend slow evenings in the characterful living room, where exposed stone and overhead beams set the tone as you settle onto the sofas. When it’s time to turn in, three charming bedrooms await. The first is on the ground floor: a king-size room with picture windows, storage, and its own exposed-stone inglenook with an original bread maker, and dressing table. Tucked away in the eaves are the two remaining bedrooms: a king-size with an en-suite bathroom featuring a gorgeous roll-top bath and shower, and a king-size zip-and-link bedroom with an attractive window seat and access to another beautiful bathroom.
