Chankanaab’s sheltered waters are popular with beginner snorkelers and divers, and the parks abundant attractions, from dolphin shows to ancient ruins, make it a hit with young families. Begin your visit with a walk through the jungle, either on a free guided tour or by following the jungle paths on your own. Swim with dolphins at Dolphin Discovery by morning, and in the afternoon scuba dive or snorkel through a wonderland of tropical fish and stunning marine gardens. There are also limestone caves in the inland lagoon to explore. For non-divers keen to experience the underwater world, the Sea Trek Helmet Dive gives visitors the chance to walk on the ocean floor wearing a special helmet and breathing apparatus.Immerse yourself in the history of one of the world’s great civilizations at the various Mayan ruins, and stroll through the botanical gardens and discover more than 350 species of tropical plants on display. (638 reviews) Best thing about the resort is the staff. They are friendly and courteous. Loved having the excursions included. Room was clean, comfortable and well maintained. Food experience was excellent. It is nice to have access to the adjacent resort as most restaurants are on that side, you access the beach by the other property, and the pool is bigger there. It would be nice if Explorean was adults-only. Still an enjoyable vacation overall. (1,001 reviews) Stayed on the sixth floor in a master suite ocean view. The room was decent. It's a two room design with two bathrooms and separate sitting / dining area. Started off the first day on the 3rd floor looking at trees when we had booked an ocean view on a higher floor. They were apologetic and rectified it the following day. The location of the resort is good, not far from town. The number of restaurants is limited, however the overall quality of the food was very good, with the exception of the lunch buffet on the beach which wasn't the best. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Martin, one of the porters, was super friendly and helpful both at the start and end of the stay. Snorkeling out front is great and with a commercial dock many of the excursions pick you up right at the resort. Overall this resort is a good option.
