A countertop bar with 4 barstools and small dining table which seats 4 in the kitchen with views of the lake. Everyone will enjoy helping! And there's another dining area that seats 6\. Gather in the Great Room to play games or tell tales in front of the fireplace! In the evening, enjoy the fire pit with s'mores under the stars. Life can't get better than that! And no need to leave your dog behind we know pets are family NOTE: Lake Access is a rolling hill entrance. Lots of beach this year - 2025 The water can be sandy or stoney depending on what the lake gives you that day. But it sure is fun to try to find the ever changing sandbars. Even if it's stoney…it's fun to go stone collecting – Lake Huron is a geologists paradise! Just bring some water shoes. The nice thing is, it's not weedy or slimy at all. EXTRA'S: include Wi-Fi, upstairs TV has an Amazon Firestick, Air Conditioning, dishwasher, wood and electric fireplaces, pool table and wet bar, wine fridge, propane BBQ and firepit. We've also included 2 kayaks, a youth paddleboard and some bikes All Guests are required to sign a separate cottage rental agreement and provide government issued photo id. Including names and ages of all guests who will occupy the property. Primary renter must be over 25 photo id is required. Only those occupants listed on the Rental Agreement, are allowed to occupy the property. A separate security deposit of $500 is required. Max occupancy at all times is 14, violation will result in removal without refund. Parking is limited to 6 vehicles Max 2 well behaved dogs are allowed Linens are available for $20/per person. We were greeted with the stunning view of sunny Lake Huron through magnificent west-facing windows. The house is incredibly spacious and has both a luxurious and cozy-cottage feel to it. The property is magnificent. The woodlands on both sides give a lovely degree of privacy. We often sat on the patio out back and enjoyed the singing cicadas and crickets, and several nights sat around the firepit and watched a gorgeous sunset while listening to crashing waves below us. We also loved the private path down to the beach area -- although a little steep at the start, the switchbacks make the mini trek very manageable and pleasant. The six of us ranged in ages from 56 to 83, and we all enjoyed the entire experience. My sister's Australian shepherd was in his element in this highly dog-friendly place. It was wonderful to have an array of indoor and outdoor games available for those of us who wanted to play pool, or bat a volleyball around (for example). There's so much to do and see around the area as well (e.g., we hiked, went to a winery, explored Bayfield and Goderich, went to outdoor markets). The folks from CottageStays managed our inquiries wonderfully, and it's clear they care deeply about the place and want you to have a terrific vacation. We really really did. More luxurious than home! Our pups loved walking the country roads and exploring the woodlands. The access to the private beach was a bit rugged for the seniors in our party with mobility issues, so they didn't try, but there are more accessible beaches in the nearby towns...just a shirt drive away. Lots to do and see in the area. We were extremely pleased with how quickly our host responded to any queries, and we were taken with the welcome package of smores, popcorn, and even treats for our two Shelties. Wonderful property! Like being on the ocean! Saw 7 beautiful sunsets in 7 nights. Enjoyed swimming, kayaking, hanging out at what was essentially a private beach, bonfires, star gazing. Best of all, great time together with the family. Walk to the beach was a bit dicey, might be a little challenging for elderly folks, especially when wet and slippery, but we all managed just fine. Great location, easy access to the water, and picturesque views from the deck. The cottage itself was spacious, more than enough bedrooms, and plenty of room that we were never tripping over each other. Great communication about the accommodations well in advance of the weekend so we were never left in the dark about anything. Oct 25, 2020 #### Amazing Stay This cottage is a great place to get away for a weekend or week. My cousins and I stayed here for a weekend and we thought it was perfect. It was secluded with an amazing view of the lake. The sun sets directly on the lake so you have a perfect view. Inside, the photos doesnt do the space justice. the house is very spacious upstairs and downstairs. We got a guidebook that explained a lot about living at that cottage. Unfortunately, the heating in the basement, which was separate from the heating upstairs, did not work. Hot water for showers was a little problematic. Other than these inconveniences, we enjoyed our stay there. Communication with the owner was very good. ##### Ramnik S. Jul 11, 2023 #### Memories were made Easter 2023 Our family getaway at the Woodland Private Retreat fully exceeded everyone’s expectations. Apart from the house being immaculate upon arrival the owners thoughtfully had Easter/Spring decor throughout the home. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. Lots of fun things for both the kids and adults. And yes, big enough to sneak away for some privacy as well. Even thou the sun shone for the entire time it was cool. Bundled up a nice walk on the beach rejuvenated you. Or there was the shopping in Bayfield for the ladies. I think we hit every store. So quaint! One of the best features of the house is the Sunsets! The view looking out the window of the Sun disappearing into Lake Huron took your breath away. The variation of colours mystified you. We even had a full moon tucked in behind the trees. Oct 19, 2021 #### A great place for a large family thanksgiving holiday! Our two families had a wonderful weekend at Woodland Private Retreat! Jennifer at CottageStays was very accommodating answering questions and making us feel welcomed! Mother Nature prevented us from spending any time outdoors, however, the cottage was extremely roomy for the 12 of us! Plenty of room for quiet reading, or chatting, or playing games both upstairs and downstairs. The pool table was a hit for all of us! The Woodland Private Retreat LaVrangue house was absolutely beautiful and everything we could have wanted. We stayed for a week with our children and grandchildren and came away with memories that will last a lifetime. Large open spaces in the house to be together, kitchen had lots of room to be able to prepare meals, tiered outdoor deck with so much space! But the most amazing part in our eyes, was the incredible backyard. It had a breathtaking view of the lake (sunsets were fabulous) an immense sandpit for the kids including toys, and a firepit for evening singing and telling stories!
