The staff was extremely pleasant. They were kind to allow us to check in early. There was a musician in the courtyard below our room that we could listen to from our balcony.

Beautiful hotel, great friendly staff. amazing room. the Hot Tub could have been a bit hotter. Had a great stay and if We go back to the island we will definitely stay here again

Staff was wonderful, breakfast every morning was great. Rooms very spacious. My only complaint would be if you get a room that overlooks shopping area below, it lights up the room a lot at night.

Check-in was easy and initially staff. We were able to leave our luggage there before checking in since we got there early and explore and walk around. Our luggage was brought to the room which was fairly clean. The room was a bit stuffy, but once the air was turned on it was fine. Sliding glass door leading out to the balcony does not lock. I called down to the front desk area to asked about which room we got since it did not look like the description from what I booked through Expedia. I got the newly remodeled Superior room which was supposed to have a fireplace and a bit bigger, but ended up with a Deluxe (there is a size and pricing difference). The older lady who initially checked us in answered when I called to inquire about it and she told me that it was the Deluxe room. I informed her that I booked the Superior which she got defensive and said that I only booked for 2 and had 3 people. The room stated it can sleep 3 with free rollaway bed and did not give me the option to add a 3rd person on the site. She then continued to reprimand me stating that she had the right to cancel my room because I only said 2 people when I booked the room and continue to say that Expedia says that Deluxe and Superior room were the same. Which is not true since Expedia gave me the option to pick different rooms at different prices (Superior and Deluxe being different in the choices given). Not happy with the way I was spoken to, but stay was decent and other staff were nice.

The room was very roomy and clean. Theseated patio area was very sweet in the morning with coffee or tea. Our favorite part was the extra large bathtub, definitely 5 stars! Wonderful for our honeymoon and first time on Catalina Island.

Enjoyed our stay at the Metropole Hotel mainly to the convenience of proximity to walking everywhere. Hotel itself was average. Heater was very noisy, lots of construction noise nearby during our stay in February 2024.

Hotel Metropole was great! It is conveniently located near all of the shops and restaurants. The room was very spacious and we really enjoyed the balcony. It was very quiet when we were there, but it was the off season so not sure how noisy it might be during prime time. The breakfast was great!

Quaint and charming
Charming hotel at the north end of downtown Avalon. Pros:Short walk to Casino and restaurants. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was modest but tasty. Beds were comfortable. Cozy fireplace for a chilly winter night. Upgraded toiletries were a pleasant surprise. Cons: Room faced busy courtyard where we were woken several times by patrons. View was of a wall. Bathroom clearly had water damage with pealing wall paper and rotten floorboards. Age of building was evident by the warped floors. Very few electrical outlets. Spotty WiFi. Normally this is not an issue, but Catalina has very limited cell coverage for anyone who doesn't have Verizon, so I was unable to receive some work emails or research activities while there.
