At this point on the boundary trail, you can see that ash still pervades its banks, though the inevitable spread of flora and fauna will soon build up enough topsoil to revitalize the area. I had never seen a clearer, and more definitive view of the tributary, even in photographs. It is astounding how much of the mountain's topography, geology and habitat are on clear display on this trail.
