Located about a mile from the picturesque small rural town of Gatehouse of Fleet, the town provides numerous opportunities for eating out, small shops, a delightful and testing nine hole golf course, tennis courts, river and loch fishing. As the area is within the Galloway Forest Park, nominated Britain's first Dark Sky Park, a clear night will present amazing opportunities for star gazing with the naked eye. Included in your stay is complimentary use of the onsite communal wood fired Sauna and Cold Plunge Pool, where you can relax and take in the stunning scenery, spectacular sunsets and on a clear night amazing star gazing. There are numerous sandy beaches and rocky coves for bathing, windsurfing and sailing within a short drive, the nearest being about 3 miles away; sea fishing and horse riding are also available nearby; the Forestry Commission 7Stanes mountain biking trail at Kirroughtree is around 30 minutes' drive away; and the area is a haven for wildlife, with regular sightings of deer, red squirrels and red kites. There are extensive walks and mountain bike rides over hills, past lochs, through forestry and down the valley from the doorstep. The Nearby harbour town of Kirkcudbright, known as ‘The Artist Town' due to its connections to the ‘Glasgow Boys and Girls', is a thriving centre for arts and crafts and is home to numerous private galleries and the public Kirkcudbright Galleries which hosts a wide range of exhibitions.
