It's a haven for those seeking genuine Italian escape, The apartment, part of a beautifully restored stone farmhouse, offers a spacious and comfortable living area. Inside, you'll find two generously sized bedrooms: one with a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom, and the other with twin beds. There is a family bathroom that benefits from both a shower and a bath. The property features a fully equipped kitchen, complete with dining area which leads out onto the terrace for al fresco dining. Relax in the spacious living room, which features exposed wooden beams and quirky original features. The outdoor seating area offers unforgettable sunsets over the Gran Sasso mountains. The apartment is situated on 8 hectares of land, featuring fruit and olive trees. Deer are often seen wandering through the fields, while falcons hover in the sky, while cicadas will serenade you to sleep. In late May and early June, the fields and hedgerows light up with what appears to be thousands of fairy lights; these are fireflies, putting on a magical nighttime performance. You can easily enjoy walks from the house, there is a gravel road that leads to Castiglione, or venture up to the Mountains where you can explore Campo Imperatore a vast plateau in the middle of the Gran Sasso National Park, from which you can take one of the many well-signposted walking paths or mountain bike trails. On a hot summer's day it is the place to cool off while enjoying a picnic, or you could try some arrosticini, a traditional dish of skewered grilled lamb, sold by restaurants on the Campo and then cook them yourself on the barbecues provided, before taking a drive to Rocca Calasico a spectacular castle with stunning views. There are many excellent beaches in the area where you can hire sun loungers and umbrellas. Pineto Beach is about a 40-minute drive, with plenty of stabilimenti (Beachside bars with private beach facilities) to choose from. A free beach is located near the Cerrano Tower. Other nearby beaches include Silvi and Pescara, both of which are well-equipped. Further afield is the Trabocchi coast, named after the famous cantilevered fishing platforms, some of which have been transformed into atmospheric restaurants where you can sample the day's catch. Nearby, Castiglione Messer Raimondo and Bisenti both have small convenience stores for picking up groceries. The historical towns of Penne and Atri are within easy reach, where you can spend the day wandering the beautiful streets and piazzas. The nearest city is Pescara, approximately 45 minutes away, which boasts many museums, galleries, and shops. It has a vibrant seafront with numerous bars and restaurants. You can also catch buses and trains to Rome or other parts of the country from here, or use the international airport to fly in and out of Abruzzo. Other Information The property features ample parking, complimentary Wi-Fi, BBQ facilities, Laundry facilities, a Hairdryer, a Pod coffee machine, and a Bluetooth speaker. All bed linen and towels are provided If you're travelling with an infant, we can provide a high chair upon request. Rachel and Robert are truly friendly hosts. The house has been lovingly renovated/restored and furnished. The rooms are very beautiful and spacious. The bathrooms are new, very clean, and beautiful. We immediately felt at home at Casa Lucciola. There's a small terrace right off the kitchen and a wonderful panoramic terrace from which you can enjoy the view of the mountains. The house is somewhat remote, and you'll need to allow time by car for excursions. But everything is easily accessible, including the coast, Campo Imperatore, and Gran Sasso. All in all, it's one of the most beautiful holiday homes we've stayed in so far. ##### Barbara H.
