I compare this to Italian East coast hotels (we stayed for three nights at San Benedetto del Tronto on the same trip), and what strikes me most is that Riva del Sole has a private well maintained beach where residents of hotel don't have to pay anything for sunbeds and umbrellas (opposed to 25 eauro per one sunbed per day in San Benedetto regardless of the fact that they call it "hotel's private beach"). Riva del Sole also has a big territory what feels to be in the middle of the forest. Their children't pool is really nice and surrounded by a circle of large pine trees providing shade all day long, there is also a nice large playground next to the pool.
On the negative side, our room was a bit on the older side (I heard hotel has some modern recently rrnovated rooms, but those were all sold out at the time we booked). And hotel's staff speak very little English (I speak of front desk people in particular) - this was a bit strange for a hotel.
Overall we had a really nice experience and will definitely recommend this hotel.

175 rooms in the 4 star hotel with aircondition, satellite TV, telephone, safe, WLAN, minibar. All rooms with terrace or …More
This is an excellent 5 star hotel. Beautiful rooms, pool and grounds. All staff are very attentive. Good range and quality of food buffet breakfast. Buggy / minivan transfer available to beach (5 mins) which is wonderfully clean and sandy with deck chairs, sun beds and umbrellas ready for guests. Changing huts also available. Attentive life guard on duty throughout the day. Kayaks and pedalos are also available.
The hotel beach-restaurant serves a wonderful array of food from pizzas to buffet with grilled fish. Wonderful puddings. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant in the evening and found a particularly good local restaurant in the nearby urbanisation. We also explored the port area but there is little there to entice you back.
The price reflects its 5 star billing; that said, we booked well in advance and got a very good deal for a stay in the middle of August.
