I enjoyed the Sophia hotel overall but a few things fell short. The staff was excellent. From the front desk to the staff on site. A special shout out to Belky. She's a gem at the hotel. The hotel is close proximity to everything in the walled city. Great rooftop area with amazing views. My biggest issue was the plumbing situation. Multiple times the shower did not get warm and took several calls down to maintenance to adjust. The toilet also didnt have adequate pressure to flush. Our room also had an odor during the stay. We saw a crew outside the hotel working on plumbing issues, which may have contributed to the problems. Overall an excellent property, but these issues were a slight negative on the trip.

We spent 5 nights at Sophia Hotel in the Haggia (Terrace) suite. The hotel itself is in a great location and walkable to all restaurants and attractions. In terms of noise levels, the hotel IS situated across a public square and there was a festival taking place the last few days of our stay. It did get loud at times but by 11pm the music/performances stopped. Same with the rooftop lounge. They'd play music during the day and evening, but by 10-11pm it was quiet. The only thing that could be improved is the furniture in the patio itself. They need to be replaced and the retractable shade was removed/missing. I desperately wish it wasn't as at times it was way too hot/sunny to be out on the patio. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. The staff are very friendly and our room was left spotless every day. We would consider this hotel again if we were to come back to Cartagena.

Beautiful, quiet boutique hotel in the walled part of Cartagena that was walking distance to the sights. The staff, especially in the restaurant were extremely friendly and efficient. Great breakfast buffet with a great many options.

My partner and I had the most amazing time at Sophia Hotel. The breakfast was AMAZING!! The staff were EXCELLENT. They were so patient and helpful with us. Helped us to book tours, did a birthday room decor set up and were very responsive on WhatsApp whenever we messaged (no matter the time of the day). I would definitely recommend here to anyone. You would not be disappointed.

Nice staff, very nice room with huge deck that was next to roof top terrace and more importantly faced Adguana Square that made for loud techno msg until 2:00am The hotel roof top was fine and dint bother me but the loud speakers playing disco, techno music until the wee hours was a total drag. The staff did offer me an interior room the last night for sleeping which I appreciated. If you don’t mind a pulsating base late into the night you should be good to go.

My Room was awful, absolutely NOT what I paid for. Noise from the roof top bar went right in my room !! I was offered earplugs i'm no Kidding. I even had to repair the TV's to get them to work !! No room at the hotel roof top Bar or Pool because they reserved all the seating to a group of Men that weren't even staying at the Hotel !! You couldn't pay me to stay there !!

Great Boutique Hotel!
Great boutique hotel in the walled city. Very easy to get around on foot. Plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars within easy walking distance. Many of the tourist attractions are easily accessible on foot. The service and property are top notch!! This is not the cheapest place to stay by any means. Costs are on par with United States.

Great place to stay. Perfectly located in the walled city with easy access to all the area has to offer. Which is good because it’s hot. Staff was very friendly and the complementary breakfast was well above par. I found the hot water didn’t get hot but that doesn’t bother me. I mention it only that it might bother others. Overall, it’s excellent.

Excellent Location, Almost Perfect.
We stayed at the Sophia for 3 nights. Our room was very large but had a view of nothing, which was disappointing. We were also near an air space that allowed all the music from the rooftop bar to come into our room. We asked several times and they finally reduced the volume. The staff was as helpful as possible, and, for the most part, very friendly. Breakfast was excellent, especially the coffee! The fittings in the bathroom were very modern and up-to-date.

We love it!!! Everything was wonderful about this hotel, the employees were so nice and always open to help you out with everything. Even they updated our bedroom for a better one for free. The location is amazing! Very close and central of the main attractions.

Great central location with breathtaking city rooftop bar views. Very attentative employees . Anything you needed they were there with a smile to help. Great recommendations for tours and restaurants. Awesome breakfast served every morning! Extremely comfortable beds and ice cold ac’s. We just got back from Cartagena yesterday and can't say enough about how wonderful our stay at Sophia was. The ONLY negative thing to say is that you do hear the sounds of the street at night, but it never disrupted our rest at all. The hotel is adorable, central, walkable to everything, boutique so the staff knows your name and attends to every detail. It's not a super luxury hotel, but it's still a charming, clean, cozy, and perfect hotel, 5 stars for its category! Plus, the scent in the lobby is absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this hotel.

A special shoutout to Deiver, who gave us excellent restaurant recommendations as well as arranged all of our tours. Belky was also a phenomenal member of the staff, making our breakfast a warm and welcoming start to our day. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel with amazing staff. They helped us organise a tour to Bazurto market with hardly any notice. Rooftop is also lovely and the breakfast is delicious

Hotel Sophia, was a great place to be for our 6 nights vacation in Cartagena! Great breakfast, great food in the restaurant and a very convenient location to visit all the attractionsin the city! We didn’t rent a car but we did a 2 days trip with double decker bus hop on, hop off. Ruben, Maurizio and Denver from front desk were really helpful. We will stay again at this hotel if will come back to Cartagena

This was a great hotel! It was in a very good location, employees were very helpful and the overall room and hotel was very clean and spacious. The breakfast is delicious. I would stay here again if I return to Cartagena!

Great boutique hotel in the heart of Old Town. Service is great and all the staff is so friendly. This is the second time we have stayed there and it continues to be a favorite hotel of ours. The pool area has beautiful views and great food and drinks. Breakfast is buffet style and they have everything you could want. Highly recommend a stay here while you are in Cartagena!
