Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island. The building itself is one row away from the ocean, and one row from Carolina Beach Lake. The Carolina Beach Lake is nearby, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday and FIREWORKS every Thursday. We welcome you to sit back, relax and enjoy yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for! The home is in the heart of Carolina Beach and moderate walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, restaurants, and local shops of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or party boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier complete with bait, tackles, and more! The entry to this 2 bedroom and 2 bath home opens into a newly furnished family room combined with an open dining area and fully equipped kitchen (stove oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is stocked will all the basic cooking and dining utensils one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, coffer maker and blender ready to help make yourself at home (while on Vacay!). A few of the amenities provided by your Owners include courtesy large shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel left in the bathroom of each bath as well. Also, a roll of TP in each bathroom, 1 roll of PT in the kitchen, 2 garbage bags per garbage, laundry pods, dishwasher pods, dryer sheets, hand soap, dish soap, a sponge, coffee, tea, and pure cane sugar in each kitchen. Additional items are likely on sight as well! The home's ONE (1) QUEEN bed and TWO (2) TWIN beds consists of either a plush luxury mattress or a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition mattress because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge. There is a 50” Smart WIFI TV (with approx. 25 channels through the Charter Spectrum cable) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and enjoy some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! The outdoor shower is located next to the pool in the rear of the building to help get that sand off of those toes! The HOME: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a respective balcony. The outdoor spaces from pool, shower, and grounds are all communal. PARKING: Each reservation will have access to (2) TWO unassigned parking spaces. Be absolutely sure your pass in onsite at check in and to always display the pass in your vehicle. If taken from the suite, a $200 lost/stolen pass charge will be assessed per pass. The POOL: The pool and its amenities are privately shared by residents and guests. \*\*\*OPEN!\*\*\* Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. The building itself is approximately one hundred feed from the complexes private access. The property is a long walk or short drive from downtown Carolina Beach with its shops, activities and dining and is equidistant to the smaller, but just as charming Downtown Kure Beach with its fishing pier and aquarium. Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and vacationers all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun. We truly have an amazing community! Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more relaxing and less “adventure” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered! I will be available for check-in and general assistance until 8PM EST. Anything with the exception of an emergency (ie. flood, fire, or another \*safety\* related risk sent to Maintenance) will be responded to ASAP the following day :) There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has several vendors such as Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 308 S Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks, chairs, and umbrellas) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. There's Sun Fun Rentals @1204 N Lake Park Blvd Unit F Carolina Beach, NC 28428\. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all! After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). However, be conscious that few homes have external outlets WITHOUT GFCI’S (which are code by today’s standards). Charging a cart on a GFCI will immediately trip the breaker, resulting in the inability to charge a cart amongst other repercussions. Gas carts will generally be the ideal rental option if in a home whose parking supports such. •ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. There was so much to do and see so we were never bored. The beaches were beautiful and clean and we especially enjoyed Kure Beach and the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Our only complaint is that we were on the 2nd floor (we're both 60) and it was exhausting going up and down the stairs. It also wasn't clear to us that there was a fob in the room for pool & beach access but we figured it out. All in all it was a great trip and we'll definitely be back. ##### Dave F. The kitchen was well stocked. The location was great with dining within walking distance. Views were beautiful and beach access was only a short walk from property. The view of the ocean from the side deck was very peaceful! The condo had everything we needed for just the two of us. This was our first time visiting Carolina Beach and we really enjoyed the area. The upsides of unit: good communications although not sure why exact address and access so closely guarded until close to departure. But, generally quick responses before arrival. This unit has a terrific porch with generous seating. Very comfortable! The Adirondack chairs are spot on! Bad: hall bath shower prickly spray, could have used more silverware, small shower towels but fine. The unit was nicely updated and our family was very comfortable. We enjoyed the pool each afternoon. Additionally and double bonus, we were one of 4 families in the area. This unit seats16 for a group dinner! Laid dinner out in kitchen and it all went pretty smoothly.
