Welcome to Y Bwythn, a peaceful countryside escape deep in the heart of Cothi Valley, South Wales. This rustic and charming cottage has been in our family for over 60 years, a cherished retreat where generations have found rest, laughter, and tranquillity. Now, for the first time in 2025, we are opening our doors to share its magic with you.  
  
A Storybook Setting  
  
Nestled within a lawned garden, surrounded by gentle streams, and miles from the hustle and bustle, Y Bwythn is the kind of place you picture in fairy tales. The only sounds you’ll hear are birdsong, the rustling trees, and the soft murmur of the stream running around the cottage. It’s the perfect setting to slow down, unwind, and reconnect with nature, with loved ones, or simply with yourself.  
  
Rustic, Cosy, and Full of Character  
  
Y Bwythn is not a polished, designer cottage, it is a homely, well-loved retreat where time slows down. Simple but comfortable, it offers:  
• Three Bedrooms  
• Bedroom 1: Double bed with en-suite (downstairs)  
• Bedroom 2: Double bed with views over the garden  
• Bedroom 3: Single bed and a sofa bed  
(we do not provide linen for the sofa bed)  
• Sleeps 5 comfortably (6 with sofa bed)  
• Fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher  
• Cosy living room with wood-burning stove and Freesat TV  
• High-speed WiFi & landline (plus mobile signal via WiFi)  
• Traditional heating: log fire & electric wall heaters  
• Great walking & cycling straight from the front door  
  
Y Bwythn is for those who crave quiet, simplicity, and nature. Whether you spend your days exploring the surrounding valleys, relaxing by the fire with a book, or just listening to the soothing sound of the stream, this is a place to switch off and recharge.

If you're planning a day trip, here are some ideas for exploring the area around our property. You'll find a variety of attractions that highlight the rich history and natural beauty of Carmarthenshire. Here are some notable places to visit within approximately 10 miles:  
  
Aberglasney Gardens  
A restored garden featuring a unique Elizabethan cloister, formal walled gardens, and a variety of plant collections. It’s a haven for horticulture enthusiasts and those seeking tranquillity.  
  
Dinefwr Castle and Park  
This historic site offers a glimpse into Wales’ past with its ancient castle ruins and a picturesque landscape park. The estate is also home to a historic mansion and a herd of White Park cattle.  
  
Brechfa Forest  
Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, Brechfa Forest provides numerous walking and cycling trails amidst lush woodland, offering a peaceful retreat into nature.  
  
National Botanic Garden of Wales  
Located in Llanarthne, this expansive garden features themed areas, the world’s largest single-span glasshouse, and a variety of plant species from around the globe.  
  
Carmarthen Town Centre  
As one of the oldest towns in Wales, Carmarthen offers a blend of historic sites, shopping, and dining experiences. Explore the town’s rich heritage and enjoy local food.

The property is set up to offer remote access with easy self-check-in, meaning that no direct contact with anyone is needed.  
  
We also offer 24/7 guest support if you need assistance during your stay.  
  
During the winter months, the cottage can be quite cold upon arrival, especially since it is in a rural area. It takes some time to warm up because there are plug switches on the walls that need to be turned on. However, once you do that and light the fire, it becomes wonderfully cosy!  
The stream is totally unfenced, so if you have small children or dogs, they’ll need supervision (or will have great fun splashing around!).  
If it’s been raining, outdoor surfaces can be slippery, so good footwear is recommended.  
The hot water is electric and takes time to warm. Be mindful of usage because it takes time to reheat when the tank is empty.  
  
My property management team will be available 24/7 via email, or phone to assist guests.  
  
Pass the Keys® provides a hotel standard of service for short-let properties. Each property is professionally maintained and cleaned. We guarantee professionally cleaned linens and toiletries. We also offer 24/7 guest support and local personal service before and during your stay.  
  
The local team of Pass the Keys ® personally inspects each home to certify they have met Pass the Keys®’s Property Readiness Standard.  
  
IMPORTANT: On behalf of our host at Pass the Keys, we require guest verification facilitated by Truvi (Previously called Superhog). Upon confirming your booking, Truvi will contact the lead booker via a secure link, providing detailed instructions for the verification process.  
  
The online verification requires a government-issued photo ID and a credit or debit card. During this process, you may choose between a refundable GBP 500 deposit (plus GBP 10 transaction fee currency equivalent) or purchase a non-refundable damage waiver of GBP 40 (currency equivalent) to cover potential damages during your stay.  
  
Once the verification process is successfully completed, check-in information will be provided. If you opted in for a deposit, this will be refunded via credit/debit card after your stay, subject to an inspection of the property.
