John Peel, the famous huntsman of the 1700's was born just outside of Caldbeck and the area maintains many links to his hunting heritage with the village church being his final resting place. The Caldbeck fells offer walkers the opportunity to explore the less frequented parts of the Lake District but still promises stunning vistas, Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwentwater along with the Solway Coast are just a few of the views you can expect to see on your adventures. Hesket Newmarket and Uldale are both within a 10 minute drive and have their own village inns and Bassenthwaite and Lake Ullswater are both a 20 minute drive. Caldbeck is a short drive from Carlisle, Penrith and Keswick for those who enjoy retail therapy and is the perfect base from which to explore the northern Lake District, Eden Valley and Hadrian's Wall. Sebergham Cottages nestle in 5 acres of landscaped grounds with woodland and lake features, just off the B5305, a 5 minute drive from Caldbeck. Once a farmstead, Sebergham Cottages is now a range of luxurious cottages sleeping from 2 to 12 people in individual cottages or larger groups over the 10 fully equipped holiday cottages each with its own private hot tub.
