"The nightly rate was jacked up for Jazz Fest. Would I have paid $320/night for this hotel outside of that reason, absolutely not. The location worked and it was quiet. Bed was nothing spectacular, and the shower was not great. The temperature would fluctuate and it really never turned off, which is a shame. All in all it did the trick, but I’m not sure I’d come back to stay here. My guy Brian out front is top notch guy, who gave a good lunch recommendation. He made my stay, especially since he remember me by name a couple days later. I see you Brian! "

"I loved my experience at the Mercantile. The staff was incredibly friendly. The room was very convenient to the convention center and other places. The bedding was comfortable, and I loved having a separate sitting room. If I attend another conference at the convention center, it will be my go-to place."

"When I arrived to check in, I was handed my rooms key and told, "we have overbooked and as far as rooms go, you get what you get." I had prepaid for a king bed room. I received a double bed room. When I pressed the issue, I was told there were other hotels nearby if I wasn't going to take what I was given. I then asked about a late checkout. I was quickly told that would not be an option even though I had spoken to someone two days prior about it and they said it was something they could easily do for my stay. When we got to our room, the bathroom was below par on cleanliness. There was even a roach smashed in one of the hanging pictures. I contacted Expedia support about these issues. They contacted hotel management on my behalf. Hotel management did nothing to rectify or compensate for anything. While that part was not a good experience, the morning desk staff were a lot more polite and did grant my late checkout request. There is a good fresh breakfast with lots of options. The hotel is also in a great location where you can easily walk to many destinations. "
