This location is ideal for enjoying the warmth of sun, and cooling off in the solar heated pool, but with a pleasant dry mountain heat. Due to the altitude of 900M sleeping at night is a dream... Perfect for keen cyclists due to the number of cyling trails around, and fantastic for hikers too, as well as for those just wanting to enjoy the mountain ambience. Set high in the hills with a cluster of similar privately owned and little used properties one may feel there is no civilisation, but the property is within walking distance of 2 restaurants (one less than 1 minute away on foot and another under 20 mins), and others are accessible by car. The village of Careggine which has a further couple of restaurants, small supermarket, bars, and other shops is 4.5km away. So, a mountain retreat, but with facilities within easy reach! This lovingly cared for property romantic part stone villetta is set over 3 floors, and has 3 bedrooms (2 doubles and a double with extra single bed), 2 shower rooms, a well equipped kitchen/breakfast room, a living/diner and its own pool. There is also a lovely little courtyard for dining and relaxing al fresco, taking in that fresh mountain area. A protected area, and a place of outstanding Natural Beauty the area forms the Parco Alpi Apuane, famous for its marble mountians. At 900M above sea level the house is located in a sunny position making the most of the summer, yet with the benefit of that dryer mountain air and lovely cool evenings for sleeping. Stunning views and what feels like never ending countryside surrounds this beautiful location. Whilst at the end of the mountain road, there are facilities to hand, with two restaurants within walking distance, and a couple of others in the village 4.5km away, where you will also find shops (including a small supermarket) and bars, and the most stunning views of the area. Carregine is the oldest village in the region, with its parish church founded around 700 AD! Exquisite works are conserved inside, including the stone altars and a statue of Saint Anthony from 1563, attributed to Vincenzo Civitali. It is the birthplace of Italian football and World Cup winner player Marco Tardelli and of Adriano Tardelli, one of the heroes of the Italian resistance movement . Carregine is also an area for local ski-ing in the Winter months as well as winter running. Also within a 15 minute drive is a lovely restaurant overlooking the lake of Isola Santa - a perfect view and a great way of trying a real Italian style Sunday lunch - don t eat breakfast and be willing to stay a while - there is no menu and the lunch just keeps on coming! Pause before or after lunch to walk down to the lake and appreciate its peaceful beauty. One can fish at Isola Santa, and also at the local lake of Vagli which hides a sunken village..... For days out: Whilst in the depths of the countryside, one can visit: Local market town of Castelnuovo - 20 mins Barga - gorgeous and popular mediaeval town - 40 mins Lucca - stunning walled mediaeval city of Lucca which is say 1 hour and 20 minutes away. Pisa, with its leaning tower is a 1 hr 40 minute drive Florence 2.25 hours. The famous Wind Caves are a 1 hour drive Closer to home there are plenty of little historic villages to visit, many of which have local festas in the summer. Why not visit the Fortress at Verrucole which is a good afternoon out, with stunning views and some interactive activities for the children. Also the Buffardello tree climbing and zip wire park (ideal for both adults and children of all ages with a variety of runs) is a great day, where one can take a picnic and spend the entire day in the welcome shade of the forest. The real beauty of this area is the dramatic mountain scenery, and the hundreds of hilltop villages to explore, endless picnicking opportunities, and the pure peace of a non touristy holiday ...... Schon der Check-in war unkompliziert und wir konnten das Haus zum vereinbarten Zeitpunkt beziehen. Die Zimmer sind liebevoll eingerichtet und in der Küche ist alle Ausstattung vorhanden um zu kochen und sich selbst zu versorgen. Hat man dazu mal keine Lust, kann man in dem nur wenige Meter entfernten Restaurant lecker essen.Direkt am Haus beginnt der Wald mit einigen Rundwegen für Spaziergänge oder große Wanderungen. Gerade für unseren Urlaub mit Hund ideal.Für Ausflüge in die Umgebung muss man zwar das Auto benutzen und die Serpentinen hinunter, wird aber immer wieder mit schönen Ausblicken belohnt.Für Tagesausflüge sind Pisa und Lucca nah genug.Insgesamt hatten wir einen sehr schönen Urlaub in dem Haus. Der Pool und die Terrasse waren optimal für unsere Erholung. ##### Stéphane G. Super war, dass der Pool beheizt war und so immer angenehm war zum schwimmen. Super, war auch das Fußläufige Restaurant. Dort haben wir zweimal zu angenehmen Preisen gesessen. Die Aussicht ist sehr schön, wenn man einen Tisch auf der vorderen Terrasse hat. Ansonsten war das Haus gut ausgestattet. Man sollte sich gut mit der Gegend beschäftigen. Einkäufe und Touren mit dem Auto sind mit Zeit und vielen Kurven verbunden. Aber genau deswegen entscheidet man sich für diese Unterkunft. Abgeschieden und trotzdem ein paar Menschen um einen herum. Kan niets bedenken wat we gemist hebben. Het chalet was ook heel schoon. Het chalet ligt wel enigszins ingesloten maar op zich heb je voldoende privacy en het uitzicht is heel mooi. De temperaturen op deze hoogte zijn goed uit te houden. Overdag heerlijk zonnetje en het s' avonds had je meestal wel even een vestje nodig. De eigenaren zijn super vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ze sturen je zelfs vooraf een hele informatiemap. Helemaal top. In de buurt kun je heerlijk italiaans eten voor weinig geld. Helaas waren deze restaurants wel alleen op vrijdag t/m zondag het 's avonds open. We hebben een hele fijne vakantie gehad. Wat wij alleen heel jammer vonden is dat je bijna een half uur moest rijden voordat je in een dorp/stadje was. Maar wie van rust houdt, een mooi chalet met zwembad en heerlijke temperaturen zit hier op zijn plek. ##### Désirée V. Christiana und Massimiano waren stets erreichbar und sehr bemüht. Die Unterkunft ist in einem Gebäude mit weiteren Wohnungen, die aber Terassenförmig versetzt sind und gegenseitig nicht einsehbar. Rund um den beheitzen Pool ist eine kleine Liege- und Sitzecke, vor dem Haus die überdachte Fläche mit dem Esstisch im Freien. Grünflächen sind nicht vorhanden. Der Bereich ist relativ klein, das sollte man wissen, aber ausreichend.Die Wohnung ist sehr schön eingerichtet und sauber. Die Betten im Untergeschoss sind schon etwas durchgelegen. Leider war bei Ankunft (Sonntag) die Pumpe im Pool defekt, daher nicht geheizt, wurde aber sofort nach Ankunft der neuen Pumpe am dritten Tag repariert. Auch der Schirm, der ein überraschendes Gewitter mit Starkregen nicht überlebte, wurde umgehend getauscht.Christiana hat sich regelmäßig erkundigt, ob alles in Ordnung ist, angeboten nach der ersten Woche Bettbezüge und Handtücher zu tauschen, wir fühlten uns gut betreut.Die Ausstattung ist gut, lediglich ein paar Aufbewahrungsboxen mehr hätten wir uns gewünscht, waren aber auch in vergleichbaren Wohnungen nicht vorhanden. Einen Wetzstab zum Schärfen der Messer wäre aber eine gute Anschaffung. Die Region ist sehr schön zum Wandern, das Klima gemäßigt und nicht zu heiß. Es war unser vierter Aufenthalt in der Toskana und die zweitbeste Wohnung. Wir würden diese Wohnung sicher wieder buchen. Vielen Dank Christiana und Massimiano. ##### Dietmar S. Die Einrichtung war bis ins kleinste Detail mit viel Liebe und Rückhalt eingerichtet. Überall schwebte ein angenehmer Duft in der Luft. Small but beautifully clean pool with plenty of seating areas within well maintained outdoor space. Inside the villa has everything anyone could need to cater for larger parties, however during our stay we found the downstairs bedroom and shower room had a unpleasant damp smell and the attic room was in the eaves with restricted headroom. For the two of us it was very comfortable as the main bedroom was delightful with plenty of wardrobes and another shower room on the same level. The villa is an hour from the autostrade and the drive up the mountains was somewhat hair raising at times. We were very disappointed that the local restaurant was closed which meant at least 20 minutes drive to eat out. However every restaurant we ate at was superb. We had an extremely enjoyable stay here but I would not recommend taking young children or anyone with mobility issues. Massimo and Christians are superb hosts and very helpful and the villa is delightful if you don’t mind driving to go out and about. Ideal area for cyclists and hikers. ##### Sandra Faux F. Wir haben uns sehr wohl in dem Objekt gefühlt. Auch die Ausstattung der Küche war überdurchschnittlich gut. Der Pool, 6 x 3 m und 1,4 m tief, war sehr sauber und durch die Wärmepumpe hatten wir auch im September noch angenehme 27 Grad. Die Entfernungen ins Tal sind länger als gedacht, da 800 Höhenmeter. Km mal 2 gleich Zeit, aber die sollte man im Urlaub haben und man kann das für diese schöne und ruhige Lage durchaus in Kauf nehmen. Sehr alpine Landschaft, tolle Bergwelt, Wandermöglichkeiten, aber nicht Mediterranean. Für Bergfreunde und Familien ideal, durch den tollen Pool. ##### Oliver B. The owners Massimiliano and Cristina are a lovely couple, always helpful and attentive. The house is beautifully curated, with details that will make you feel home right away. The pool is a pleasure all day with stunning views that offer you calmness and relaxation to your stay. There are a couple restaurants nearby, however we only ate at La Gatta. Great traditional food and familiar ambience. Bring all your necessities or stop by at the store on your way there as the closest place for groceries can be about 40 min drive away. The location offers you a number of activities to do nearby. We went to the beach on a daytrip to Forte dei Marmi and also visited Cinque Terre on another day. Our girls and I had a beautiful time here and definitely recommend it for families with children. ##### Juliana D.
