Great Hosts but the Villa needs love.
Let me start off by saying the hosts ( a couple that lives 45 minutes away and their son studying in university in another city) are great. They can speak English ( the son), French ( the mother) and Italian ( all 3). Very responsive and they want to please.
The state of the villa is ok. The walls are generally scuffed and dirty and the bathrooms would probably benefit from a refresh. In particular the showers which are tiny and tend to be...very used.The view is mostly visible from the second floor but it's still quite authentic. The pool is an out of ground attachment its quite refreshing given the heat and limited AC.
The house would also benefit from a more complete cleaning. Recognizing its in the country side, it's filled with spiders of all sizes, ants ( including the t.o ground level rooms and beds) and scorpions!
4 out of the 5 rooms has functioning AC but the hosts controlled it at a distance. They generally opened it on time when we requested it ( we proposed a fixed schedule to simplify things)
The location was interesting, loads of ascending and descending roads. In the immediate village, there's a small pizzeria, reservations were preferred for groups larger than 2-3. About ten minutes aways there was another restaurant called Buon Riposo, its larger and reservations weren't required.
In summary, it's a nice place with great folks that run it but it needs love.
Would I rent it knowing what I know now? yes bit not at the price we paid.
