Definitely would Return to the Grand caribe real

Posted 22-Aug-2016
A mixture in variety of food choices to choose from..favorite restaurants were the pescatore, sunset grill, graviotas, and Maria's. Beach is nice with white sand and warm waters. View from ocean front hotel room was gorgeous. Very clean hotel and the staff is extremely courteous. One recommendation ladies and gents. Tip one or two dollars which translates to 18 pesos for every dollar. That would be for services and drinks throughout the time used as much as you can.The people that work there are punctual and at your every need. That's service. The hotel is real close to everything.

Good hotel...friendly staff

Posted 21-Aug-2016
Pros: Beach, cleanliness, wifii, hammock on balcony, good restaurant staff
Cons: vegetarian options, tastier food, less people selling stuff on the compound, registration system upon arrival, the wait is too long for tired people
Location: malls, isla mujeres ferry
I spent two nights at this hotel. The service was generally good. I came in around twelv and check in time is at 3pm but they were willing to accommodate me at the earlier time but there was a line where we had to wait before we checked in. This method of registration should be improved because some people have long flights and come in tired. We were allowed to start all inclusive even at the earlier check in time. Room was quite spacious and clean. Toilet and bathroom was very nice. A full bar was provided and a relaxing hammock in the balcony. the view was ok but could have been better had it been a higher floor so I was not too enthusiastic about the second floor I was given because it felt as if I was too close to the pool and all the people there, it did not feel very private. However I was given the option between two rooms but the other one had no view so this was the better off the worst choice. I am a vegan so I was very disappointed in the lack of options I had in terms of food. The restaurant staff especially in Alberto restaurant tried his best to accommodate me and make something special but nothing in any of these restaurants were full vegan. The thongs used to take out food was just being passed in all the dishes including the lilttle vegetable existing in the buffet. I was forced to eat dessert as my meals after seeing this.Staff spoke sufficient english. The hotel is a bit overpriced for what you get ut generally good

Posted 20-Aug-2016
Pros: Hospitality, good food variety, white sand beach
Cons: Room soundproof
Location: Great location to visit other nearby beaches, restaurants, clubs, commercial business via local buses in Kukulkan strip.
Easy checkin upon arrival, room was ready, weather was a bit on the rainy side, however it wasn't constant just in Spurts, which help cool the day's a bit on our visit to chichenitza and tullum, which can get pretty humid and hot on sunny days, wear comfortable footwear, sunscreen and mosquito repellent,Amigo tours had comfortable bus and tour guides in Spanish and English on this tours, overall a good experience

The rooms are big enough but they weren't good clean. The food was ok at the buffe but at the restaurants are small we have to wait more than 1 hour and the second day we arrive at 8:30 and they said they don't have table for the rest of the day.

Nice hotel on the beach

Posted 16-Aug-2016
Pros: The staff and location.
Cons: The service needs to be consistent. The front desk had a tendency to assist certain people and not others. That could be bad for service.
Location: The beach was a few steps away from the hotel and the mall was within walking distance.
Nice location, the staff was wonderful, the room was nice and spacious and great food selection.

Decent all inclusive hotel for family with a nice

Posted 15-Aug-2016
Pros: Facilities for family are very good. There are ramps everywhere for strollers. The kiddie pool, pirate ship, and 3 story slides are great for kids.
Cons: The 2 pools are the smallest I have seen in any resort in Cancun and I been to Cancun over 10 times. The rooms are also the smallest also.
Location: Did not leave.
There are some things i like here, but there are also some things that i was disappointed with. Checking in was already a disappointment as front desk saw my baby and still gave me the farthest room in their facility of a 2nd floor walkup. My wife was too tired to go back and wait in line to change rooms when we saw what it was. The front desk did not ask about crib either so I have to call and wait. Also, there was no alarm clock in the room. I called them 3 times to bring one and 5 days later it still never came. Food was better than I thought. The Italian restaurant was really good. There were 2 buffet and they both were decent. All in all, my family have a decent time. Kids have a great time so I guess that is all that matter. I probably would not go back.

Nice hotel with some issues (would give it 3.5).

Posted 13-Aug-2016
Pros: The staff and service, the facilities, the food, the room, ease to get to pool or beach, the location.
Cons: Cleanliness of pool area, towel policy, no reserving of shaded lounge chairs near pool by putting a towel down by people not using them immediately.
Location: Chichen Itza was amazing, but try to find a tour that gives you more than 2 hours at the site. Took local bus to Mayan museum in Cancun, a hidden gem.
Pros: Nice clean room, with hammock on balcony. Staff was very nice and helpful. Food was plentiful and tasty (but see the cons regarding the restaurants). Nice pool and beach easily accessible from hotel, with lots of lounge chairs. Although there are lots of cons below, we enjoyed our stay. Cons: Restaurants with service (versus buffet style) were hard to get into; need to come early or be willing to wait for over an hour. One buffet was air conditioned (Albatross); the other outside (Gaviotas). With hot August weather, Albatross was crowded and the staff had a hard time keeping up with the demand (a little bit of a wait for table and for drinks). The lobby was very hot and humid (no AC in lobby, as it was open air entrance to outside) and although there were fans, the heat made it hard to see the shows that went on at the bar area. (Note to self: do not go to the Caribbean in August.) The pool towel policy is weird: you get cards to hand in for towels, which are given back when towels are returned, with a warning of a $30 fee if not returned. We had towels stolen from us on 2 different occasions. (Thanks to the desk staff who gave me a card so there was no fee.) We were not so happy about the clientele, with the towel thieves and people who left their drink cups in the pool (we expected better). Pool area littered with cups. Tip to hotel: either put a garbage can close to the pool to encourage people to throw out their drinks or collect the cups a little more often.

Beautiful beach

Posted 10-Aug-2016
We've visited many hotels in Mexico and this was not one of our top hotels. The problem is, the age of the facility. Thanks to hurricane Earl, we received a lot of rain. There were leaks in the walls, the vents are rused and painted over. They kept the property very clean but some things just need to be gutted. Pools and beach were nice. Slides, water park and mini golf for the kiddos is awesome. Restaurants for buffets were a 3 at best. Maria's and Sunset Grill being a 5. You just have to be there when they open at 6 to get on the list. It's about a 5 min bus ride to shopping/clubs for $1 each way. Be sure to have exact change when paying with USD or you won't be offered any. And hold on for dear life as soon as you pay or they will haul a@@ before you sit down good. Lol The shows were great, the drinks at the lobby bar were the best. They will use better liquor when asked. I tipped $1 a drink. They work hard for their tips, they remember what you like. Evening snacks in the lobby with fresh churros made me happy...fat, but happy! None of the cons made it a bad trip, we're just used to better accommodations. This is a 3.5 star property at best. So if you have to watch your budget, it's a good value.
