The highlight at this amusement park is the super-fast Leviathan ride, but there are 15 other roller coasters and more than 200 attractions to explore.

Ride the fastest roller coaster in the country, float down a lazy river, learn about dinosaurs and race your kids in Canada’s Wonderland.

Opened in 1981, the wonderland now has more than 200 attractions that are enjoyed by three million people a year. The 330-acre (130-hectare) park is divided into eight zones: Action Zone, International Festival, International Street, KidZville, Medieval Faire, Planet Snoopy, Splash Works and White Water Canyon.

Try one of the 16 roller coasters for a thrilling experience. Drop down the park’s centerpiece mountain and swing low over the river in Vortex, a suspended roller coaster. Be brave and step aboard the Leviathan. At 306 feet (93 metres) high, it is Canada’s tallest roller coaster. With a top speed of 92 miles (148 kilometres) per hour, it is also the country’s fastest roller coaster. There are also milder rides too, for those so inclined.Take young children to Planet Snoopy, with Joe Cool’s Dodgem School and Peanuts 500 race track. Families can have fun together on the Timberwolf Falls log flume and Antique Carousel.

The Splash Works water park is included in your ticket. Rent a locker to keep your belongings dry while you relax on the Lazy River or ride the body flumes and water slides. Its large open-air wave pool, White Water Bay, is a hit with teenagers. Opt to pay extra to enter Dinosaurs Alive! and watch Tyrannosaurus Rex fight Triceratops in a prehistoric setting.

Go to the suburb of Vaughan, a 40-minute drive north of downtown Toronto, to reach the wonderland. It has a huge parking lot, but the fee is somewhat high. The Wonderland Express bus can pick you up from the York Mills or Yorkdale bus terminal.

Canada’s Wonderland is open daily from mid-May to August, but weekends only in September and October. Note that Splash Works operates only from June to August. The general admission price is high, so buy tickets online to save money. For an additional fee, get a special Fast Lane pass to skip the lines in front of selected rides and attractions.

I knew from the past no outside food. Security said I could have brought a little bag of snacks. Get there before 0930 to get parking and in by 10.

For kids it would be great to get the attraction sorted by size in one zone or to illustrate the height requirement with a bright colour that we could spot from far so they won't be deceived when we go closer. Toddler carrier is a must have! Bringing or picnic on the site would be great. We loved every attraction we tried!

Very busy for a Monday of a long weekend. Was there for 5 hours got on 4 rides. Water park was severely over packed

I'd recommend doing two days, the waterpark one day and amusement park another. The park is poorly laid out (lots of pointless walking) and the staff are generally unhelpful and unhappy. They oddly allow smoking there as well. The food is bad and the park isn't as clean as you'd find at Disney. The rides are good and waterpark is excellent, but get a cabana if you can, they are worth it.

We purchased our tickets online, through the Canada's Wonderland website for a savings, but when we got there, they would not let us enter. They made us go over to security. The security guard took my driver's license and visa, which I do understand, but we had to wait 10 minutes to get it all authorized. He said that we could have just ordered them in the parking lot, which made no sense, as the date on the printed e-tickets was clearly from the week before. Once he called them in and approved them, we walked to the gate, but we still couldn't go in, as the authorization hadn't gone through. It was ridiculous, considering that they were purchased from the actual Canada's Wonderland website. They were not purchased from a third party. We did get in after waiting a few more minutes, but if I were to go again, I think I would purchase my tickets at Costco, which is also cheaper than the gate, and would not require authorization. As for the park itself, my boys loved all the thrill rides and coasters, but we did not like the food prices. A grilled cheese with chips was $10.95 and a very small chicken strip meal with fries and a drink were $16.95. You aren't allowed to bring food into the park, but you are allowed to exit and walk to your car to eat. If we were to return, we would take that option, and just return to the park after eating our own food. The only place that wasn't overpriced was Tim Hortons. Naturally, it had the longest line.

Great for the young uns. In reality this park is not a 'wonder'. It is quite small compared to other parks. It was built too close to built up areas and there is not room for expansion. It closes for autumn and winter. It offers little protection or things to do when the weather gets the tiniest bit inclement.
