No smoking indoors.. Welcome to St. Peters, a unique holiday let nestled in the serene countryside of Wiltshire. This charming property is a converted Victorian church, built in 1868, on the site of an original church dating back to the Norman period. Situated in the quaint hamlet of Highway, within the parish of Hilmarton, St. Peters boasts a rich heritage, with the estate having been in the family since the 1930s. Accommodating up to seven guests, St. Peters is reminiscent of its long history as a church, by providing the ideal space for both communal gathering and personal retreat.  
  
 As you step through the imposing church door, you’re greeted by the warm embrace of original beams and the glow of colourful stained-glass windows. The ground floor welcomes you with a living room furnished with a wood burner, perfect for cosy evenings by the fire, as well as a Smart TV and plush sofas for relaxation. The kitchen includes marble counters, a four-oven range cooker, induction hob, family size fridge/freezer, separate drinks fridge, and all the equipment needed to cook a fine meal. The large dining area provides a convivial space to eat and talk, while a utility room and downstairs shower room offer practicality and convenience for all. Ascending the grand staircase, guests will find four thoughtfully arranged bedrooms, each offering a tranquil haven for rest. A second bathroom awaits on the first floor, complete with a delightful freestanding claw bath, offering indulgent moments of rest and relaxation. Outside, the property’s enchantment continues with a generous garden space complete with outdoor furniture, a barbecue, and a fire pit, ideal for al fresco dining or evening gatherings under the stars. The large enclosed garden provides a safe space for children and dogs to explore and play.  
  
St Peters boasts an incredible gateway to one of the quieter corners of Wiltshire’s idyllic countryside. Within a 15 mile radius are the historic market towns of Royal Wootton Bassett, Corsham, Devizes, Marlborough, and Chippenham. If you enjoy historical estates, you could visit the treasures at Bowood House and Gardens, the tranquil ambiance of Lacock Abbey, or the breathtaking flora at Westonbirt Arboretum. Or, if you prefer something even more ancient, you could explore the prehistoric wonders of Avebury Stone Circle and Stonehenge or the majestic landscape of Silbury Hill. For outings your kids might enjoy, you could take a visit to the playground at Bowood, Cotswold Water Park or Longleat Safari Park. St Peters can be found only 10 miles from Junction 16 of the M4, allowing it to be easily accessed by distant travellers. Its been over 20 years since the LKs last visited so were looking forward to re-visiting. There are no charges to walk amongst the stones which make up the largest megalithic stone circle in the world, but there are separate charges for the museum and the Avebury Manor. The main car park is £4 for the day but not very big considering the volume of visitors Avebury sees, so if you visit we would suggest outside peak months. The purpose of the the stone circle is unknown but its believed to be a ritual complex, the site is a sacred site to the contemporary Pagans and if you are lucky on your visit you may see Druidic rites taking place.
