I understand that hotels need to do renovations, however, informing us that there are minor renovations, and then upon check in discovering the elevator is not working was a huge inconvience. If we'd known prior to, we wouldnt have booked this hotel. We have a toddler (under 2), so having to climb 4 floors to get to our room was very difficult each time. (We bring a stroller/wagon when we travel to ease the transition of luggage, baby supplies, child etc). The stairwell was also absolutely disgusting, just dirty and grimy, so we didnt feel comfortable even legting our toddler try to walk up/down the stairs by herself, because we didnt want her hands or clothes to touch the stairwell (a just concern, since she occasionaly stumbles still).
Upon check in, I was informed our room was not ready, this was fine, as he explained that the housekeeping staff didnt have elevator access, so they were having to haul laundry up and down the stairs (absolutely insane they dont have a service elevator working); we were understanding of the situation, and we got a room upgrade because of this problem. Although a good solution, this put us on the 4th floor, making it very difficult to bring bags up and down etc.
We were very relieved to see that the interior of the room was in exceptionally better shape. However, there was only 1 normal sized pillow for a king sized bed. We asked for more pillows & it took them 45 mins to "track down 2 other pillows in the whole hotel.
