Nice hotel but not for those who want to relax

Posted 14-Aug-2017
Pros: Decor and location are great.
Cons: Amenities could be explained. Heating system needs to be upgraded.
Location: You're close to shopping of downtown, the Beltline District and 17th ave. Bars, restaurants and shopping are all there within walking distance.
Stayed at Hotel Arts over the August long weekend. Thought the hotel and amenities were great. It's modern, stylish and clean. Location is great, central and close to everything you need in downtown Calgary. However, we booked the hotel for the pool and didn't realize that there was a pool party both Saturday and Sunday from 11 am - 5 pm. If someone was hoping to have access to the pool at any point during the day, you'd have to want to join in on the party. If you wanted to relax in your room instead, you also wouldn't be able to do that either during those hours as the party volume wouldn't allow that either. Be prepared for noise from the party as well as the cleaning staff that worked all day on those hours as well. We had the same experience late night as well. Wedding guests, parties in the rooms, slamming doors, and hallway parties as well. Also be aware of the heating/cooling system noise in the room and the overall comfortability of the system - it's difficult to find the right balance between the noise and heat/cool. This hotel would be great some people wanting to party, but it if you'd like to sleep at any point between 11 am until 4 am, or have access to the pool outside of DJ'd and younger crowd, or even find a seat, this is not your hotel.

close to downtown & great food!

Posted 8-Aug-2017
Pros: quick check-in and good clean room
Location: great food in the area, close to downtown and the stampede grounds and my meeting locations all within a 5-10 min walk.
Great, clean hotel and reasonable rate! Food in the Yellow Door Cafe is great, and plenty of other restraunts in the area which are impressive!

We stayed 2 nights July 31 - Aug 2. Both the water tab and shower always had running hot water; especially when in the morning on Aug 1st and Aug. 2nd ready to take a shower, the water is extremely hot like boiling water that can kill!

New hotel, big rooms, clean, blu ray movies and mini bar were a bonus as well. Great staff at the front desk - very friendly, helpful and always smiling. Close to cross iron mills as well. Highly recommend staying here.

Hotel Arts

Posted 21-Jul-2017
It has been awhile since I stayed here. The property is getting tired. When I pulled in there were so many cabs in front of the building there was not place to pull in and drop the luggage. My room was on the second floor. I had to go up and down a flight of stairs to get to the room. I was not advised of this at the desk. The room had a window which looked into a building next to it. The window did not open. There was one very uncomfortable chair in the room and nothing on the walls with the exception of the TV. The electrical plugs were almost impossible to access. The only one available was along the floor some distance from the bed. The wireless connection was very slow.

Poor Guest Services and Experiences.

Posted 19-Jul-2017
We stayed in a lot of hotels in Calgary and this one is by far the worse. This hotel caters to conferences, not to people. When we first checked in, the staff there are rude and unfriendly (even when we checked out). There wasn't an alarm clock nor a mini-fridge in our room. The hotel is pretty, but the staff are horrible. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, especially if you are looking for good guest services and experiences.
