Pretty nice hotel with some disappointment

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Pros: Location, atmosphere.
Cons: Pool smell, whirlpool water, food.
Location: Calaway park, western edge of city for trips to mountains, McMahon stadium if you're in to CFL football (I'm not) or concerts.
Stayed at the Village with kids on visit to Calgary. Staff were nice, location was great, room clean and roomy, having the pool in the middle of the hotel was awesome - we actually used it because it wasn't tucked away. Two things took the shine off though: (1) The restaurant was the biggest disappointment. Had steak two times there and both times it was cooked poorly. Once under done and the other times over done. Didn't send it back because we waited pretty long for the food and just wanted to eat. Also, only ate the steak - mashed potatoes were tasteless and mealy. (2) The location of the pool in the central atrium was really nice but there were two problems with the water. The main pool water smelled like stinky feet. We had to shower off after getting out and wash our swimsuits after because the smell lingered on our skin. The whirlpool water was overly treated with chemicals. When the whirlpool was running the water would foam up and our eyes really started to burn. Overall, I would stay again but if there was another hotel that was in the same location with similar amenities, I'd strongly consider the alternative.

Nice Hotel - too noisy

Posted 17-Sep-2016
Pros: Clean and comfortable
Cons: Customer service needs a review with staff.
Location: N/A for my stay
Upon arrival we were at the front desk about to check in and someone else that had already checked in came around the corner and the person checking us in shifted his attention to them and assisted them when they should have waited as he had started helping us. Too much noise echoing from the openness of the accommodation. As nice as it was to look at I found it was too noisy for me to want to return.

More of a business hotel stay versus a family one

Posted 4-Sep-2016
Our young family stayed in this hotel for a week during which there were 3 conventions scheduled. This made for difficult parking options and a very business-y atmosphere. The room needed more thorough cleaning and vacuuming. With two small toddlers crawling around we were disappointed to find advil on the floor during our stay. At least we found it before a child had ingested it! Overall, would choose a different venue that feels more family friendly.

Everything was great! Only glitch was the garage door to get out of the underground parkade was stuck for a bit and we couldn't get out but we managed to fix it. :)

Noisy Noisy Noisy

Posted 22-Aug-2016
Quite noisy as Hotel is right off of Crowchild Trail. Room was right across hall from pub and eatery which made it just as noisy. No side or rear entrance to building so if parking at the back, you must walk all the way around to the front. Parking is geared towards smaller vehicles only-no bigger trucks per say. Bathroom is awful-water ran all over the floor as there is no edging between shower and actual floor(had to put towels down on floor to prevent flooding into actual bathroom-curtain sticks to you while showering as its a very narrow area-french sliding doors on bathroom do not close properly leaving large gap and provided little to no privacy when in there. Ceiling tiles on bathroom very dirty in shower area revealing mold/mildew in some spots as well as glue or some other substance which doesn't leave a good impression on the eyes.
