Located in quiet cove perfect for swimming, fishing, relaxing. Wake up and enjoy your morning cup of coffee watching the steam roll off the water. Next, sip and enjoy your favorite beverage down by the water, fish off the lower deck, or get your float on and relax on the dock. In the evening, get your grill on at the top deck or snuggle up by the fire pit for an evening s’mores session. The living space: you walk in to the living room with beautiful high ceiling, brand new modern updated decor with lots of natural light. The kitchen and dining room provide ample supplies and seating for 6 guests. The best room, the sunroom, will swing you into a state of pure relaxation. Snuggle up in a egg chair with your favorite book and enjoy water views from every window. The bedrooms: Room 1: the master bedroom is located upstairs. It has own king size bed, tv and its own bathroom with an incredible view that overlooks the lake and modern walk-in doorless shower. Room 2: is located downstairs on the main living area. It has its own king size bed. It shares a hallway full bathroom amd overlooks the lush mountain greenery. Room 3: is a loft bedroom with its own king size bed. It has incredible views that overlook the lake. Property has multiple landings for outdoor entertainment. Other things to note: \*You are in a rural area of the Cherokee national forest. \*NEW 300 Mbps Fiber internet! Prior to March 2023, the only available internet in our area was DSL which was intermittent and sometimes unreliable and listed as such. Then we are able to get Starlink in the spring 2023, which was significantly better. Watauga Lake is an extremely beautiful and clean recreational lake (3rd cleanest in the country) located in the Cherokee National forest with 105 miles of shoreline. More than half of the lake is mountainous national forest and cannot be developed, so its really naturally beautiful and not crazy overpopulated with boats. This hidden gem is known to be one of the most beautiful lakes on the east coast. Watauga lake is great for boating, jet-skiing, tubing, skiing/wakeboarding, fishing, swimming, kayaking etc. Downstream of the dam is a very popular whitewater rafting area as most of the local companies in TN and NC bring their patrons here. Hiking is also very popular as the Appalachian trail and a couple of small waterfalls are nearby. This property is also close to attractions in Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock, NC and also attractions in eastern TN. We have great sunny summers with no mosquitoes and beautiful fall colors when the leaves change. In the winter time, skiing is a popular option at nearby Sugar and Beech Mountain. This is a spectacular mountain and lake getaway. Stair notice: Nestled in a scenic mountainous location, this charming vacation rental offers the perfect lakeside retreat. Please note that the property features approximately 15 steps leading to the front door, and additional steps down to the dock. As with most properties on the lake, the terrain offers a bit of a climb and descent, making it a great option for guests who appreciate nature and don't mind a little extra effort. It would appear they have shifted. The slope is unsafe and the whole staircase is leaning. I can provide pictures if you like. I am a retired Fire Code Official from NC, and I don't think that stair would pass inspection. The kitchen does not have an exhaust fan, which led to a nuisance activation of the smoke detector in the dining area, when we used our cappuccino machine. Later, the same detector went into battery fail, and we had to remove the batteries to get it to shut up. Mattresses were hard as a rock. The gas grill was used up and rusted. Only one burner in the grill would light. We really couldn't take advantage of the lake access... too many steps for our age group.The place WAS quiet and clean. The scenery was outstanding. Really loved this property, the beds were comfortable and I’m thankful we were allowed to bring our pets. Great proximity to the wineries for a little getaway after being on the lake. Loved that there was a kayak and Lilly pad to float on. The only con was that the deck looked a lot nicer in the photos, none of the sitting areas were inviting and were pretty dirty and needed a little tlc but the floating dock was clean and we just brought camping chairs down there which was totally fine. ##### Amber R. The house was the cleanest pet friendly house we have ever stayed in. The host was extremely helpful making sure we had everything we needed. There were plenty of cozy blankets and the beds are super comfy! We enjoyed our stay so much, we extended our visit an extra day! We would highly recommend this house to anyone wanting to come and enjoy the lake. We would absolutely rent this house again. ##### Shelly B. We booked the cabin for my family of 5 for Thanksgiving! We cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner and the kitchen had everything we needed! The host was so awesome. Great communication and even surprised us with some Thanksgiving decorations to make our stay fun! The cabin was very clean and just as described. The views were amazing. While remote and off the beaten path, there are two wineries close and you are an easy drive to Boone and Blowing Rock. We had a great time and will be back to enjoy the dock and lake when it’s warmer. Excellent property! ##### Laura C. A bit smaller than pics present, but cozy. Way too many stairs though. They are small, narrow, and sloping, quite hazardous and fatiguing after a few. Probably not a fit for middle aged to older folks, as there are many inside and outside. By the end of our stay, the sunroom was filled with ladybugs. Not bad when it comes to insects, but pest control needed. We could tell no one had come in awhile to blow off the leaves, as the decks were all blanketed, but I suspect they come back quickly this time of year. As someone else wrote, guests should try to come to the home during daylight, as it’s a bit hard to find, and gps is needed. Also, groceries, food, and gas are at least a 40 minute drive, so either bring some with you, or stop on your way. There is a very cute Mercantile 2 miles up the road, which has food and some groceries, but they close at 2:30\. There is a beautiful vineyard up the road, but we didn’t visit this time. Lake is beautiful, and the fall leaves were gorgeous! We drove our motorcycle a couple times during our stay, and the ride was great!! We also went to the Cherokee shooting range, and that was fun. The park was beautiful, being on the lake, and the boat ramps were very busy! Even with the new Starlink, reception was a bit slow and in and out, but we made do. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here, and we appreciated the clean home. ##### Debbie S. While there is a lot to like about this house, there are also some issues renters should be aware of...firstly, although the photos do not show it, there is another dock with an upper sitting deck/dive platform some 30-40 feet to the left of the properties dock...sadly the weekend we were there the neighbor had 20+ high school (or college) kids staying there, and the noise was omnipresent and inescapable...(I know this is beyond the owners control), but it was a major issue and the close proximity of the neighboring dock should be noted/shown... the bigger issue I would consider prior to renting here is the stairs down from the parking spot to the front door are VERY steep and narrow, with shallow steps...it makes loading luggage, coolers etc. difficult and potentially dangerous (I slipped twice)...anyone older or with any mobility issues would be very hard pressed to negotiate these stairs...the rest of the stairs down to the lake seemed reasonably okay, but the front ones were challenging, and sadly they're the ones you use while loaded down with stuff...we didn't take a picture of them, but one should definitely be included in the listing for reference...if you stay here, be prepared to struggle getting your luggage etc. safely down to the house...it would likely be quite dangerous in the dark... the house itself is nice and comfortable, and the dock was pleasant enough when the neighbors weren't there...but for us at least it proved to be the wrong house to stay in.... ##### Kenneth F. Everything was clean and ready to go at time of check in. House was perfect for 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. Beds were comfy! We rented a pontoon boat for 3 days and the dock is perfect size to tie it up in. Dock is in a very quiet cove and the kids loved the lily pad and kayak. Enjoyed the fire pit as well and it was nice that I didn't have to go gather wood, just pushed the button and it was on. Fishing off the dock is good as well, lots of smaller blue gill and sunnies along with a very large 5lb large mouth bass. Would highly recommend this house for anyone looking for a nice cozy quiet place to relax. Owner was great to work with and answered all our questions very fast.
