The landlord and staff were superb. They have very good food in their restaurant with plenty of variety. I used te hotel as a base for exploring the neighbouring area and the friendly staff helped greatly with suggestions. It took me 25 mins to get into Cambridge city centre and it is very close to Newmarket for the racing. I would thoroughly recommend staying here instead of a standard hotel chain. It is well worth the slightly longer commute time for the experience. My room was spotless and comfortable and everything worked , and I was able to come and go as I pleased. The Pub advertises that it was built in 1540, the first in Suffolk County. OK, it is fair to say it is not a new property! The restaurant is upscale (posh) and is excellent. I had breakfast and dinner there and enjoyed it thoroughly.
