Fast forward to 2026\. That same stagecoach road is now a driveway. The same ditch runs through the property. The same grassy meadow is still the salad bowl for bighorn sheep and other wildlife. But now there is the rider's dream cabin, BigHorn On The Wilsey: A 1300 SF custom-built immaculate, well-insulated, 3 BR, 2 BA home. Soothing paint colors bring the outside in. Go to any window and it becomes a frame for the beauty of nature \~ tall pine trees, quaking aspen, willows, outstanding 14er mountain views, and if you are lucky a bighorn sheep, moose, deer, mountain goats, or bobcat. The shady front porch is the place to relax on a hot summer day. A leisurely walk down the drive yields a view of the Wilsey ditch (water runs May through August) and grassy meadows. A variety of wildlife drink from the ditch. The bighorn sheep viewing meadow is adjacent to the east of property. While the rest of us park our vehicles and hope to see the bighorn sheep in the few moments we are there, you have a front row seat to the mountains they climb in order to reach the meadow. The cabin and its 2 acres are surround on 3 sides by USFS/State land. No neighbors in sight. No roads in sight. No noise. Clear starry skies. 100% nature. This is Colorado perfect. We stayed with two infants and the king bedroom has room for a pack n play but the queen room does not but baby fit in the loft space. The backyard is an incredible place to spend our time eating, having a fire, or in the hot tub. We saw 2 deer walking in the backyard which was a highlight to our stay! Kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed many meals together. We didn’t once turn on the TV we didn’t need it. ##### Ann H. We love this place so much, we returned for our third stay! The secluded location between Mt. Princeton and Mt. Antero is spectacular! The mountains are nestled just outside the back door. The cabin is clean, beautifully-maintained and very inviting with its mountain decor. It is spacious and has everything you need. The hot tub is ready to go when we you are-a “warm” welcome after hiking all day. Sitting by the fire pit with the view of the mountains creates a canvas moment. All of one’s senses are enriched when sitting outside this great place! This property is one of the best I've stayed in. The environment is spectacular. There are tons of outdoor activities with in a short drive, and Buena Vista is a nice town with amenities. The cabin was immaculately clean and Jean was always quick with responses. Our family enjoyed the view from the sofa as much as the hot tub. As for me personally, identifying and "communicating" with all the birds using the Merlin app was a blast. At one point we had over a dozen Pinon Jays partying with us in the backyard. ##### Tyler J. Incredible views and we got the “frequent visitors” our last morning there. Place is clean and can get really toasty if you want it to with the fireplace and heating. Fire pit and hot tub were great for the winter weather while we were there. Definitely will stay again. ##### Rob S. The cabin was roomier than we expected yet really cozy. It is located a short drive from town but feels hidden and private. We relaxed in the hot tub while star gazing in the evenings. We did not use the kitchen much, but it seemed well stocked. Internet/wifi was not strong but we knew that going in and was part of why we selected. ##### Molly S. The location was absolutely amazing! Super clean and very cozy! Has a fully stocked kitchen and even though the temps were in the 20’s at night, you’d never know it cause the cabin is so well insulated! Barely even had to use the heater! We sat in the hot tub almost every night and watched for falling stars. Jean was such a good host. If you have any questions, she answers very quickly. I loved it there!
