The gravel driveway is well maintained, but it does have a few curves and steeper sections that can be tricky for standard vehicles. If you're driving a 2WD, turning off Traction Control can help with grip on the incline. We want your arrival to be smooth and stress-free, so please plan accordingly. Our family loved staying in the cabin on the mountain with the incredible views and wonderful amenities. Everything was easy to find and the beds were comfy and inviting. Our children loved the bunk beds and selection of toys and we loved the highchair and kid friendly dishes and utensils. We will definitely return if find ourselves in the area again. (Unrelated, the Polar Express was a great time for our kids and the train museum was a hit, too! The hosts were very helpful in pointing us toward some other experiences in the area that were kid friendly too!) We definitely recommend a stay at Peace of Heaven! It's rare to find somewhere that offers a one night stay and that's all we needed for the Polar Express trip. The location is great- out of the way with a great view and no neighbor noise or light pollution, but still close to town. great size for us to bring the kids and grand parents for the train. The review asked about skiing.. I gave it a 5 but didn't apply. Just didn't want to doc stars for that. ##### Callie B. This beautiful cabin is stunning indoors and out. Our hosts were so nice, and even called us personally when we had a question. This was my first experience with a VRBO property, but it won't be my last. This was far superior to any other vacation rental platform I've used previously. We really appreciated the grassy area and enjoyed roasting marshmallows at the fire pit. The wraparound deck was perfect for the evenings after a day of hiking. A few more comfortable chairs would have been nice or maybe a porch swing...the rocking chairs don't rock very well on the decking.Kitchen: Kitchen was well stocked (we cooked breakfast and dinner each day) and had everything we needed...even included a few pantry items (salt, pepper, oil) which kept us from having to buy. Bedrooms: Beds were comfortable and the view from the loft is great. Be aware, the primary bedroom is upstairs in the loft so you'll have to lug your suitcases up and down.Bathrooms: bathrooms were spacious and included bath soaps/shampoos. A couple extra towels would have been nice.Amenities: There is a washer and dryer but you'll need to bring your own detergent.Miscellaneous: The description does mention that the drive up to the house is steep, and that's no joke. We were driving an SUV but not 4x4 and it was a bit of a challenge each time we went up. The first half is fine but the last half is very steep and a bit windy. We had to slow down for a neighbor near the road one day as we were on that last half (didn't want to throw stones on him) and ended up having to back down the drive a bit to get enough momentum to finish the climb. My husband and I booked the Peace of Heaven property so we could escape the chaos of our daily rat race and life with two teens. We couldn’t have found another property that compares to the peace and ultimate relaxation that Steven and Sue Matz provided! The property itself was above and beyond our expectations for comfort, cleanliness, amenities, technology, beautifully decorated, expertly maintained, lots of games and activities available, community information, and ALL the comforts of home! This property does not leave you wishing you had packed anything for the making a meal, using kitchen to bake, afternoon of card, movie night, or evening filled with fun board games! They literally had it ALL! Add to that they allowed us to add our friends to our stay last minute! They were beyond accommodating, and it was ever so clear they treat those who stay at their property like family not just guests. We can’t wait to go back and know that while we went for relaxation, we will return with our teens who will love all the peace and activities the property has to offer!
