![Spilberk Castle was founded in the 13th century by the Czech king Przemysl Otakar II as a residence and fortress to protect the royal city of Brno
The first written mention of the fortress dates back to 1277. It was erected to protect Moravia from the south. He survived his golden era during the time of the Luxembourg Margraves, who ruled all of Moravia from here. In 1560, it was bought by the Moravian estates, remembering the significance of Špilberk for Moravia, and immediately sold to the city of Brno. The castle remained the property of the city until 1621, when, in punishment of the city for participating in the anti-Habsburg uprising, the fortress was confiscated and again became state, that is, royal, property. During the Hussite Wars proved to be an impregnable fortress. Spilberg's finest hour, as a military target, came at the end of the Thirty Years War. In 1645, despite a rather dilapidated state, the fortress withstood an almost four-month siege of the Swedish troops, many times superior to the defenders in number and armament. « Nous avons reçu un accueil professionnel pour notre séjour d'une semaine à Brno. Notre projet était entre autre de découvrir Brno et la Moravie. La proximité du bus allant au centre ville est très appréciable ainsi que la grande surface très proche de l'hôtel. Nous avons pu nous promener à la découverte de la ville à pied et en bus , tram et trolley . les prix pour le quotidien sont très abordables pour nous . l'accueil dans les sites de visite , les restaurants ....est tout à fait correct. »

The restaurant offer nice quality meal and excellent breakfast The location is further than I thought of the access to the lake The spa is busy with people coming from outside the hotel . »

« Arrived around 11pm, they was no staff member on site but the have a very clear telephone number on the door and the staff member helped straight away over the phone. I loved the room and the bathroom, however it will be nice if the owner can put a kettle, selection of coffee/tea and a cup for hot beverages in the room. »

"The stay was good. Nice room, clean and spacious. Staff was friendly overall. We had an issue with the valet service: we gave our car key on Friday evening and asked the car to be ready by 6:30AM the next morning but the valet took more than 10 minutes to find the car key which was stored in a drawer. It would be nice to classify the car keys of the hotel customers by time or date to find it quickly despite staff shift changes (the person who put the key in the drawer was not the same staff). Quite frustrating when you are running late and you wake up early to have the stress related of waiting so long for your key car. When you pay more than 20 EUR per night to have your car parked you expect the hotel to be able to know where they put your car key!"

"Hotel quite compact next to a large SPA. The hotel has swimming pool but the SPA yes and you need to pay the SPA fee to access it. The restaurant offer nice quality meal and excellent breakfast The location is further than I thought of the access to the lake The spa is busy with people coming from outside the hotel . "

"L’hôtel est situé dans un quartier un peu difficile il est à 20 minutes de marche de la gare et on revient dans la vielle ville en moins de 20 minutes La chambre est grande mais très peu équipée avec une pauvre savonnette pour les mains et un produit unique pour cheveux corps etc.. Il n’y a aucun des accessoires habituels et même pas une boîte de mouchoir L’accès se fait avec un vigic même entre les étages si on prend les escaliers ce qui confirme le côté un peu mal famé du quartier Après c’est propre et le tarif est très correct La réception est polie. "
