WOW! The price we paid for this room is outrageous! This place is terrible. I'd file a complaint to get my money back if possible. Doesn't look ANYTHING like the pics. We were the ONLY people staying at the hotel. It was like out of a bad horror movie. No phone, no TV, no amenities. It was basically a roof over our heads for almost $400 per night!!

Beautiful View, Great Location
Fort Recovery is perfectly located between Road Town and Soper's Hole, with convenient access to the restaurants and bars on the west side of Tortola. The resort itself was exactly what we were hoping for... spacious rooms, island-style grounds, and right on the beach. The woman who made breakfast in the morning was one of the sweetest people we met on Tortola and it was a pleasure to chat with her. Overall, it was a great place to stay, and I expect that we will be back in the future.

This was a wonderful place to spend the night. Fort Recovery is perfectly located between Road Town and Soper's Hole, with easy access by car to the great restaurants and bars on the west side of Tortola. Our room had a beautiful balcony overlooking the water. Check-in and parking were easy. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. Overall, this was a great stay, and we plan to be back again soon.

Fort Recovery is wonderful oasis in a less populated area of the island. The hotel is very quiet and everything is very laid back. If you want action and a lively bar you should probably go somewhere else . If you want to hang on the beach and read and relax in your beautiful room, then this is the place

The property was deteriorated. The door to the suite did not lock, the pool was dirty, the beach was not as shown in the pictures. The A/C didn’t work so they moved us to a different suite and on the second night that A/C broke down as well. The toaster caught fire and the stove was out of gas.

The room we were given at Fort Recovery Beachfront Suites was decrepit and in no way resembled the photos shown on Expedia. The beach chairs outside the room were rusty and broken. There were red-brown stains all over the bathroom ceiling along with bug carcasses. The room was supposed to have a TV but there was only a cable wire in the buildout where the TV should have been. A sofa that looked like it was from the 1970s was the only thing to sit on in the living area. The air conditioner was from the 70s and cooled only the bedroom area while leaving the kitchen and living area hot, and it had a noise like a lawn mower. There was broken glass all over the beach outside our room. The room didn’t even have a telephone. Where a window should have been were only a screen and wood slats so some of the air conditioning was literally going right out the window. We did not feel entirely safe there as there appeared to be only one other couple occupying the hotel and they were leaving the next day. The whole place had an abandoned look and feel about it. The hotel had told us that it had a bar—what they have is a refrigerator with beer in it. No bar, no barstools, no bartender, no liquor, no cocktails—not what people reasonably expect from a beach hotel in the Caribbean. They had the nerve to tell us that our room was an upgrade, which means they have even worse rooms than ours. Expedia should not be cooperating with this business—it is a clip joint, straight up. Don’t go there.

The rooms were clean, but did not meet expectations set by the photos on Expedia. The food prices were not clear and my wife and I spent over $100 for some watered down soup, rice and dry chicken. I would not recommend this place.

The pictures were deceptive. I am from the Caribbean and fully understand and can appreciate the damages caused by the most recent hurricanes, and slow pace of repairs. However, the pics told a completely different picture. In addition, the rooms were over priced for less than basic rooms.

Decent stay
Stayed in a nice little beach cottage that opens up to the ocean. Room was very clean. Overall it felt a bit overpriced for the value. Yes it’s ocean front but the beach is not really nice and there are prettier areas in Tortola to stay in. There is also no full kitchen which was common in all other places we stayed in the BVIs. Would recommend Fort Recovery if it was more reasonably priced.

On the water front with a beautiful view but the cleaners did not change the sheets they just remade the bed this tell me i sleep on sheets that someone else sleeped on who hygiene practices i am unaware of. Also i kill alot of roaches that were in the room.

New sheets are placed on our beds for every new check-in! Our sheets are changed every other day if you are here for a third day they are most certainly changed to a new set. We are sorry about the roaches but when it's dry they search for water and you must keep your screen doors shut. Sorry for that sad event of the roaches.

We liked the charm of the property it was very quaint. A little rustic but I think they are working on it. Right on a small beach with small pool. No place to eat close by only problem. We stayed only one night.The ladies running the show are nice. Susan, Rita were very helpful.Rooms are a little dated but clean and cute. Actual fort right in middle of property

Thank you. The Fort thanks you very much as well. We are very proud if it also. It is one of the oldest Dutch Forts in the Caribbean . She also stood tall and proud right through the entire 2 devastating storms untouched and beautifully cleaned. There is alway something good in the worst situations. Our stay here was due to a last minute change in our BVI vacation itinerary. We showed up on their doorstep at 7:30 am, but Rita and her team immediately went above and beyond to welcome us right in and get settled. The small beach area is super chill and actually had some decent easy snorkeling. The massages at the spa from Elizabeth were some of the best we ever had. And CC made us lunch from scratch on the spot that was delicious and fresh. Everyone here bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and comfortable - We'd definitely return and recommend it to our friends!

The property did experience some damage from the Hurricanes of last year. What it lacks in imperfection is made up by the kind and efficient staff. it has a lovely beach and the rooms are spacious and comfortable.

We enjoyed our short 3 night stay at Fort Recovery. We had a beachfront one bedroom unit. Missed having a restaurant and food available but understand they are still recovering from last years hurricanes. Looking forward to staying there again next year when everything is open. Close to the beach, staff were all very gracious and accommodating, considering that it has not yet been a year since the hurricane devastation, Fort Recovery is doing remarkably well in their attempts to get back to full restoration.

Wonderful stay!
I booked this location last minute, and only due to the fact that the initial property I had booked (or thought I had booked), I had entered the wrong dates for. I live on St. Croix, and had gone over to Tortola for The Queen’s Birthday parade, and was on the ferry before I realized my mistake. But I’m glad I did as I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I was early, but was shown to my room anyway by a very welcoming lady, and the room itself was very comfortable, and the view from the balcony was incredible! My only issue was the distance from town, and the cost of taxi fares to and from. When I return for a longer stay, I will definitely rent a car. Given that the West End ferry station was damaged during the hurricane, once repaired, I would definitely recommend taking the ferry to West End as opposed to Road Town as it will be closer. But again, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this location, and I found the staff very welcoming.

Fort Recovery is in recovery mode
Our stay at Fort Recovery was nice. Our room was ready early and accommodated all of us (8) comfortably. They are still in repair mode there, but working very hard at getting back up to speed. The west end of the island was hit pretty hard by Irma, so the only restaurant available was Pusser’s at Soper’s hole. The hotel’s restaurant is not yet ready. We were able to get a taxi quickly and had lunch and bought dinner of pizzas to reheat at the hotel for dinner. Worked great and we saved in taxi fares. We swam in the pool and sat at the beach. Our room had a beautiful view. The staff were very helpful and accommodating.

I can imagine Fort Recovery was great before the hurricane. Upon our arrival, there was no restaurant, no breakfast, no in room wifi, no TV. Originally the front desk person was very unhelpful. Only one bar / restaurant was open several miles away. We ended up renting a car since there was nothing within easy walking distance.

All photos and info are pre-hurricane. There are no amenities at all. The place was destroyed by the hurricane. Construction is ongoing and the work being performed is shoddy at best. There are locals living on site and they are very noisy late into the evening. This was my worst experience ever.

So sorry you did not receive the satisfaction of more amenities. Your quite right about the WiiFi being a problem, however, it is a problem all over the island. The "locals" living on the site were not "locals." They were a poet group from different countries headed by a University teacher . If they were noisy I am so sorry . If you complained to us I hope that our staff corrected the situation. Thank you very much.

Great location
Even tho the island is still recovering from the hurricane, this property is a great location, a bit secluded from everything and very relaxing. The property is currently under repairs, but from what i see it will be back soon and better than ever! I really enjoyed the location, the staff was always friendly including the guys that were doing the repairs!! Next time i visit Tortola, this would be my hotel of choice!

Fort Recovery, a solid choice in BVI
The Fort Recovery Hotel was certainly nice, with a rustic feel and natural island setting. It is not a four star property however, and restaurant/bar service was weak.

The restaurant was odd. It took an hour to get scrambled eggs for breakfast. It's not open for lunch. Dinner needs to be pre-ordered by 5 PM and is only available from 6 to 7. The atmosphere just really made you feel like you didn't belong and shouldn't be there.

Nice quiet hotel on the beach
We only stayed for one night because we just took a day trip from our stay in St. John. Very friendly and accommodating staff. The manager called us a Safari truck to give us a tour of the island. Bouncer, our driver, was great! We spent 9 hours on and off the truck and whenever we called him, he was there. He made our visit. It's a nice place if you want to go and stay there for a few days or a week. Not really a lot in town except for souvenir shops. It's quite a distance so you need to hire a cab every time you go out.

This is a very nice place to stay if you want a clean, comfortable two room spot with a full kitchen. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, the staff is very nice but not available all the time. We checked in around 5, welcomed warmly by name, but we when we returned an hour later, there was no one at the front desk. There was no phone in the room and we had to activate cell roaming. We found someone in the kitchen to get a cab for our dinner reservation. Second, food service is relatively limited, with just breakfast and option for dinner on site (you have to order before 5 and we thought that the setting was pretty unappealing) and nothing really in walking distance. Third, it was good that we brought shampoo, shower gel, etc. because all we saw provided was small soap (dare I say it was the kind you find in a motel?) and the linens could use an update. But as we said, it is a lovely clean beach spot with a lovely staff. As long as you know to arrange for a car, phone, toiletries and food before you go.

Family Loved our Villa.
We had a wonderful week long cruise around the British Virgin Islands on a yacht we chartered. I thought that was the best part of our trip but it only got better when we got to Fort Recovery Villa & Suites Hotel.
