"We stayed here overnight before our cruise. The staff were lovely and helpful, we paid an additional $20 to get into a room early as our flight arrived earlier in the day. Well, the hotel is lovely. The immediate area around is a little sketchy, I went out in the morning to get coffees from the McDonald’s/Tim Hortons next-door and had trouble getting in because they lock all of the main doors, but there is no signage. A lovely homeless man helped direct me to the correct door, then followed me in and asked me to buy him a coffee, which I did. It was fine but a little unnerving at 6 AM."

"Fantastic location, and excellent service. Like all Fairmont's, the Empress has the same service we’ve come to expect, but the added location makes it even better. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Victoria to stay here. I think it’s one of the most famous hotels in Victoria. "
