Hood Log Cabin: This modern log cabin with an additional guest home is tucked away on two acres just on the edge of Brightwood. As you enter the spacious cabin you will find a gorgeous stone fireplace, vaulted ceilings and a wall of windows which allow the natural light to stream in throughout the home. The updated kitchen integrates with the living and the dining room, providing an incredible space for the entire group to enjoy this home together. You will see the décor and furnishing was curated to create that perfect blend of style and comfort at The Fernwood. Ascending upstairs there is a cozy seating area and some extra beanbags. Another large flat screen TV resides here making it perfect for kiddos or young adults that want to enjoy their own shows while being just a few steps away from the rest. Two of the bedrooms are on the main floor which have a queen and full bed respectively. Upstairs just off the sitting area and TV is the third bedroom. This room has two individual twin beds as well as a twin over full bunk bed. There is also a sleep sleeper sofa rounding off the sleeping options to hopefully allow lots of flexibilities for families and small groups. Outside there are a number of seating options on the wraparound deck along with a new patio and large hot tub! Relax after a day in the outdoors by kicking back on the deck, listening to the wild life and/or taking a dip in the hot tub. The grill was removed September of 2025\. Guest home: The guest home is located on the same property--allowing proximity to the group but also providing all the amenities of a separate home. Enjoy the fully renovated kitchen, dining and living space along with a full bathroom that includes a washer and dryer. The guest home is included by default with all bookings and is a wonderful option for groups where some need a bit more privacy or quiet or hustle and bustle of the main home. For those booking within thirty days, if for some reason you don't want the cabin as well, we can remove that and reduce your booking by \~$80 per night plus the $60 cleaning fee. Between the cabin and the guest home you will see so much care, hard work, and thoughtfulness went into making The Fernwood a wonderful option for you to enjoy everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer. We truly want you to enjoy your time and make some wonderful memories with your group. That being said, this is not a party or gathering house for groups that can't control their noise levels. We have relationships with all of our neighbors who have our direct contact information. Quiet time is 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Please stay indoors during this time, keep the windows and doors closed and keep the volume to an enjoyable but reasonable level. If it is loud enough to be heard outside in these conditions, it is too loud for you to remain our guest. This property includes a noise alert monitoring system in order to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected. Again, please realize we want every group to enjoy their time, laugh, have fun and make memories. These devices are only to ensure noise levels don't reach a threshold that bothers our neighbors. Also, please note there is no electronic video surveillance monitoring pools or spas, or on the interior of the house. It was spacious and had that cozy log cabin aesthetic we were hoping for, surrounded by beautiful scenery. The kitchen was well-equipped with most of what we needed to prepare meals when we decided to stay in. Location-wise, it was perfect—close to our Mt. Hood destinations and just a short drive to both a convenience store and a grocery store.There were a few minor issues worth noting. The ice maker didn’t work, most of the drawers were tricky to open due to worn-out guides, and the upstairs bathroom had a cushioned toilet seat with cracks that made it a bit uncomfortable and questionable from a sanitation perspective. The WiFi was very slow—fine for basic use, but if you need to work or have high internet demands, be aware of that. One of the remotes had dead batteries, and one curtain had fallen off the wall.None of these were deal breakers for us, but the property could definitely use a little more TLC. That said, I’d still recommend it—and would consider staying again if the location fits our future plans. ##### Amanda F. We had a very good time with our friends, 8 people total. We appreciated the extra space with the 2nd unit in back that was recently built/updated. Unfortunately the power in the neighborhood went out for over 12 hours which meant that there was no running water, no ability to flush the toilets, as well as no light or cooking capability. The property was not outfitted with working flashlights or candles so we had to go out to buy theae things. The PM was responsive and gave us a refund for part of our stay which we appreciated. We liked the location, in general, as it felt secluded but we were near enough to enjoy Timberline Lodge and other beautiful spots. The fireplace was our “magnet” and with an abundance of wood that we picked up, we had many hours around the fire, putting together puzzles and playing games. We found the second cottage a great asset!….being able to also cook there and organize Christmas surprises! PS the “main lodge” complemented the esthetics of our natural decorations ( oranges with cloves, etc.) on our humble but big tree! Close proximity to everything we wanted to see. Overall it was a great experience. Be prepared to unplug though, we had very limited internet access. The second smaller guest home was dirty, there was mold all over in the shower, the roof leaks from the skylight all over the couch. There’s mold in the closet and the sink had food all over in it when we arrived. The hot tub was murky and had debris in it. The few towels in the guest house were dirty/stained. ##### Nichole P. Checked in Thursday, Called/Texted everyday about it, had a team member come Saturday at 230 pm mentioning he had just heard of the issue, also the lady at iTrip who told us she didn't have time to sit on hold with the internet Company, I guess her time was too valuable to do that Unresolved was given a 100.00 refund on my 1600 + bill. It was so relaxing and everything was super clean and well-stocked. We had such a fun time with family and friends at this glorious property. Ample space for all, especially our family who stayed in the detached dwelling with our 10 month-old. Perfect set-up as we didn’t worry about waking others in the main house during the night. We had wonderful weather the first half of the trip, and some liquid sunshine for the second half. However, it was accommodating and cozy throughout. Truly a sweet getaway for family fun, forest-bathing, hot-tubbing, and big shared meals. ##### Maryam T.
