"Lovely hotel. Cannot fault it.."
Great location close to railway station and buses. Short walk to centre of town. Reception staff lovely and so helpful. Room clean and modern with a good size television and lovely bathroom. I cannot fault this hotel, the location or the staff. We did not eat there so I cannot review the food. Will definitely stay again.

"This is a nice, old hotel in a wonderful location"
The hotel is old and beautiful; faded glory, steeped in history. There are dozens of cosy corners and comfortable chairs; the bedroom and bed were ample and comfortable, but being an old hotel is was a bit cold and the floor boards creek... Overall, a wonderful hotel with a mediocre breakfast - weak coffee, mediocre sausages, over-cooked hash browns. But the staff were pleasant and professional, and the building is one minute across from the pebbly beach. I would definitely stay here again. The restaurant, however, was pretty awful - 'Steak on the Beach' I think it's called. There was no good beer and a horrific menu: panninis, baguettes, sandwiches, burgers - nothing interesting, no fresh fish or classic British dishes, and very, very over-priced, which is a shame because the hotel is classic, old fashioned and beautiful.

"Seafront hotel"
Check in was a bit chaotic! Only two receptionists trying to book a high amount of people in. Bedroom was below standard in that the bed creaked and groaned at the slightest movement, and was small and noisy as there was generators outside the window. Service in the bar was very slow, and food not dry hot

"Party location"
This hotel is really nice if you are keen or ready for parties. 2 nights in a raw, after mid night, I started hearing people screaming and shouting with music, which lasted until 3 or 4am. I was on my business trip so I asked the hotel reception to move my room to anywhere more quiet, so that I could actually get some sleep. The hotel staff was very understanding and changed my room immediately.
