Excellent house for a family
Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying at this quaint home in Livingston. The property manager was so easy to work with and helped us sort out food issues on a holiday. The accommodations were perfect for my family and we could not have asked for a better place to stay for our family of six.

A nice place
The place was very comfortable. It was a nice road trip to Yellowstone and we saw plenty of wildlife in the way to and from. It was easy to get groceries and have a meal at a few nice restaurants.

Annual fall fishing trip
We took an extended stay for fall fishing in Livingston. Was looking for comfy and convenient place for a 3 week stay. Elliott House was the ticket. Comfy, clean 3 bedroom home, beautifully adorned. Kitchen had all the amenities to cook and eat in, which is what we did after long days out hiking and fishing. Location is great, being walking distance to downtown, and a number of bars and restaurants. Neighborhood is very nice. Enjoyed sitting on porch in evenings and watching neighbors walking with their families downtown. And Kara was great to work with. Definitely great base for our trip to Livingston. And we will plan to return. Thanks, Kara.

The time period you stayed was uncharacteristically warm, near 100 degrees. We do have fans in every room that are fully operable. We double checked seeing your note. We enjoyed hosting you and sorry for your loss!

SUPERB Location!
The Elliott House was perfectly situated to walk downtown to shop, eat or grab a drink! The convenience to Yellowstone is AMAZING as well. The front porch cafe table was perfect for enjoying a coffee or cocktail and the dining table was large enough for a family or perfect for just the two of us. We only slept on the primary bed, but if the other two were as comfortable - AHHHH! The only downsides I can say are storage Kitchen/baths/bedrooms and closets is limited - An expected part of staying in an OLD, OLD house. The kitchen blinds were showing signs of a much needed Spring cleaning. WiFi worked beautifully, but the lack of a streaming TV was sorely missed for stormy day family movie time. Overall, it has been our best stay yet in Livingston!

We are happy to hear that The Elliott Guest House offers the best stay in Livingston! I wonder if you had opened all of the cabinets in the kitchen, as one entire wall of the kitchen is a french pantry design with many open and empty shelves. There are also empty cabinets on the other wall. Two bedrooms have closets plus full size dressers for clothing. There are also two interior porches with racks and hooks. We have often hosted extended renters over the winter and had no complaints or concerns about storage. We have strategically placed vanities/mirrors in the bedrooms so that guests can shower and return to their separate rooms to finish their grooming. We have taken a second look at our antique wood blinds in the kitchen to make sure they are now spotless! We also now have Streaming TV and have dropped our basic cable package. I am also glad that we were able work through your changing reservation in advance of your stay, as your plans had changed a few times which you asked us to intervene directly with VRBO to right size your fees and dates. We were also able to meet your request to arrive early and sent you a timely note letting you know the house was ready for you. Due to your vehicle problems on your check out day, we also accommodated your leaving the property later than anticipated.

We really enjoyed our stay at Elliot house. There was plenty of room for us to gather for conversations, and everyone had their own rooms. Unfortunately it was very hot while we were there, which was difficult the first two nights, but after that things cooled down. The location is prime, everything was close and walkable. We had a wonderful day and I would definitely go back to Elliott Guesthouse.

Close to downtown, a bit dusty
Pre-Check In Experience Kara did an awesome job letting us know about the property details and making accommodations for our stay for my wife's uncle's memorial service. We were able to adjust the occupancy based on additional family members coming, and appreciated the travel guide and tips (even though my wife's family is from Livingston). We had arrived from our flight earlier and asked about an earlier check-in, but were told that we needed to check-in at the standard time to enable a thorough cleaning of the place. There was no harm in asking, but totally appreciated the response. Check-In/Arrival The check-in instructions worked without issue, and it was easy to find on street parking. The location was well appointed, with great decor, historical tidbits, and a really functional kitchen for our stay. Where it fell short of our expectations was the cleanliness -- while beds were made with clean sheets, clean towels in the linen closet and surfaces wiped down, the whole place was dusty. You could run your finger on a windowsill, ledge or door frame and come off with black dust. Due to COVID concerns, we didn't want to reach out to have additional cleaners come in (my son is not vaccinated, we had immunocompromised members of our traveling party) to make it right. With that being said, a few of my wife's family members who also own vacation rentals in the area were surprised that this was how it was at check-in. Regardless of the condition, age or number of stars of the accommodations, I would never expect to check-in to a place that dusty! My mother-in-law took to dusting and cleaning with the cleaning supplies in the unit, so it was made better for our stay. The location was in walking distance of Livingston's downtown, where we had the ability to go to restaurants, breweries and shops with a nice stroll. The beds were comfortable and we got a great night's sleep. The updated bathroom worked great, and the classic claw footed tub bathroom was AWESOME for those that look baths. We were able to have ample space to visit, play games and spend time as a family. CHECK-OUT Super clear instructions were left on the fridge, and checking out was as easy as checking in.

We take great pride in our historic home and enjoy offering it to guests. I am sorry to hear about the dust; however I question if your comments are exaggerated. Since our surfaces are all cleaned with disinfectant, I am having trouble understanding your viewpoint. Due to Covid concerns, we do leave a couple of windows open (with screens) to allow for airing. I am wondering if our infamous Livingston winds blew in some dust? We check in with our guests after their arrival and ask them how they are doing and how their stay is going. We did not hear anything from you to the contrary. Otherwise, we would have immediately responded to your concerns at the time. Again, I am sorry to hear of this review.

Sister’s Getaway
This home was the perfect fit for myself and two of my sister’s with 3 bedrooms and two baths. The house itself was homey, reminded us of our own home growing up and we felt comfortable immediately. We enjoyed many evenings on the wide front porch people-watching and greeting passerby’s. Great location to hiking, parks and especially downtown. Many great restaurants were within walking distance. Kara was wonderful to work with and was there within minutes one evening when we had locked ourselves out, with a smile on her face. We hope to come stay again soon at the delightful Elliott House and you should too.

We appreciate the opportunity to host you. We value our customers' feedback. A few things to share........Our kitchen appliances are all less than five years old. We do appreciate the look, feel, and functionality of appliances that fit with the period of the home. And, I love to recondition items! In the livingroom, two of the chairs are less than three years old. The remaining two chairs are antiques , and we rebuilt and restored them because they are family pieces The carpet is two years old. We take pride in cleaning it often.

Charming house but not sturdy enough for us.
We don't want to break anything in a house we rent. Being a family with a handicapped child, meant we felt a bit like walking on eggs this week. We loved the neighbourhood and town and Montana. The house was a great starting point for visiting Yellowstone and other attractions. Kara is a good host, but we think the house is in need of some serious maintenance.

We were disappointed to hear that our home did not meet what you were looking for. We checked in with you at least twice to see how your stay was going, and if there were any needs. We did not receive any feedback during your stay alerting us to problems. The Elliott Guest House is kept in excellent condition and maintenance, with current electrical, flooring, plumbing, structural, appliance, and infrastructure. It could be that the level of special needs for your child would be best met in a much more standard lodging choice. We wish you the very best.

The Elliott House, the town and the people are living history
The Elliott House, the town and the people are living history. First the house is old, we thought of how it was to live in this house a hundred years ago and pictured the occupants going about their daily chores. Enjoy the experience. This is an old house with a lot of history, traditional features and in a great area. The front porch is really the ideal place to reflect on the day and enjoy the people walking by. The house was clean, well furnished, quiet, with a large selection of books. The kitchen was fully functional with current era appliances, we did not cook any meals as the local restaurants treated us to some amazing meals. If nothing else visit the Rib and Chop House and do not miss having Breakfast or brunch at Faye’s both only a couple of minutes’ walk from the house. It is only two-blocks from Livingston's Main Street and its bookstores, coffee houses, public library, museums, breweries and restaurants. The location is perfect. You can walk everywhere in town. We also attended a play at the Blue Slipper theater that we enjoyed in many different ways. The home is very close to the Yellowstone River and only an hour to Yellowstone National Park, which we enjoyed Everyone was so friendly. If you mention you are staying at the Elliott house it seems like everyone has a story to tell or wanted to give you a tidbit of history about the house or community! Kara, the owner/hostess of this establishment is a special person and immediately volunteered to assist us with a issue we had unrelated to the house. A special thank you to her for that.

The Elliot Guest House is the perfect place to stay in Livingston!
This home is well appointed for all types of travelers. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need. The owners are very generous in leaving an assortment of toiletries and detergent so you don’t have to run to the store if something was forgotten. This house is very close to downtown, which is a wonderful place to shop and eat. Chico Hot Sorings, Yellowstone, and Bozeman are all very close. Thanks for letting my girls and me stay!!!!

Livingston Historic House
We may have been unfortunate arriving in Livingston in really hot weather. However, the house was very warm and the small window air conditioner was simply unable to cope. Fortunately there was just 2 of us and by closing off two of the bedrooms and using the bedroom closest to the air conditioner nights were tolerable. This is a old house with traditional features including a claw foot bath with a great shower but definitely not easy for this older couple to use. Excellent cable TV but very slow WiFi around 1Mb download so no streaming or big files. Livingston is a fun town close to Yellowstone with some good dining places including the Rib and Chop House just 2 minutes walk from the the front door. We have stayed in over 50 VRBO/Homeaway homes in the US, Europe and Australia this is the first time I have written a 3 star review. Unfortunately when I look back at the owner's description and compare it to our experience I think it's fair to say this historic house did not live up to our expectations.

Livingston experienced an UNUSUALLY warm July 2017. We had not seen temperatures exceeding 90 degrees for so many days on end for decades. We were all melting! Most rental properties in our area have no air conditioning, due to the fact that it is rarely needed (with the exception of possibly 2 to 3 weeks). We are one of the few homes to have an air conditioner, which is located in our dining/living room area. Additionally, many homes do not have WIFI. Some areas in Paradise Valley and near Yellowstone Park are inaccessible to service altogether, while others choose not to offer service as there are many internet cafes close by. (Within two blocks of the Elliott House are several internet cafes and a public library with internet access.) I work for a global software firm and have worked out of The Elliott House for extended periods. I have not found the speed of the WIFI to be an issue. This is a high outdoor enthusiast area, with our guests out and about and not predominately tuned in to media. We encourage you to visit our museums, sight-see, rent a bike, or visit a live theater in the evenings. We have two wonderful live theaters, both within walking distance to The Elliott House. We host dozens of guests each year and those happy and satisfied rarely post and contact us personally with gracious comments about how our pricing, location, and amenities are an excellent value. We enjoy hosting!

Pleasant stay
Owner was easy to work with. Even with 5 adults the single bathroom worked out although getting in and out if the tub/shower can be difficult. Stocked with everything we needed.
Response from VrboOwner on Mar 31, 2020
We enjoyed hosting Rhonda's group. As a host, I am attentive to our guests' needs, including answering questions prior to guests' stay and working with them on booking and changes that occur. I worked closely with Rhonda to ensure that her reservation was as seamless as possible, with no surprises. The antique clawfoot bathtub is the original bathtub that was in the Elliott Guest House, lovingly restored. It is large and designed for full body soaking. We encourage our guests to review our website photographs in advance to discover if all of the amenities are the right fit for them. I am happy to hear Rhonda's stay was pleasant.

The house was quaint and has a bit of history to it.
There was three people in our group. My wife, my sister-in-law and me. We found the house quaint and enjoyed the fact that it had a bit of local history attached. The bed was a bit cramped for my wife and I, but we managed. The only knock I had was the bathroom. There is a shelf above the lavatory that I nearly banged my head on every time I went to rinse my mouth or splash my face. I couldn't lean forward without nearly hitting the shelf. The tub is an old claw foot style, which I'm not new to, we had that same type of tub in one of our early homes for years. The problem is, this one is set up with a shower and between no room to maneuver without nearly pulling the shower curtain down or tripping over it.

Response from VrboOwner on Mar 31, 2020
As our website shows, there are two queen sized beds in two rooms. They are standard sized queen beds. The clawfoot bathtub in our bathroom does have a shower. Nearly all of our guests prefer a shower. It is set up to shower in, with a shower curtain that pulls around the bathtub. There is nothing unusual about this set up, and the bathroom was configured by a plumber with years of experience. So, nothing with a band-aid or patched together, here! The shelf is configured to set your shaving items, cosmetics, or nighttime skin regiment above the sink and placed well above the sink as our website photos display.
