I liked the 24 hour reception, the dining options and the beautifully maintained grounds. What I didn't like was being allocated a room with a glass door which made me feel very unsafe as a solo traveller. The room did have curtains to cover the glass windows and the door but that didn't help with the feeling of uneasiness I had experienced for the two nights that I was a guest and I didn't sleep well as a result of this. I requested my room be made up for me and left a sign on the door for this to happen and it was ignored. Wifi signal is not strong enough to connect to if you are staying in the Hillside cottages and the air conditioner in my room kept turning off throughout each night of my stay. If you are a solo traveller and are interested in staying here and want to feel safe, perhaps spend some more money and book a room within close vicinty to the reception desk.

Clean, refurbished and great service
Mark at the front desk is lovely, check in was quick, efficient and friendly. He gave us a complimentary upgrade which was very much appreciated. The room was in the garden view area, and it was lovely - recently refurbished and looks modern, but still has the classic style with a bath tub and spacious room. I appreciated the shampoo and body wash in large pump bottles in the shower, it would be great if the hand soap and other toiletries were converted from single use to larger bottles to make it more sustainable. Otherwise overall a great stay!

The property is gorgeous but sadly I will not be a returning guest.When checking in we were told breakfast was not included when we had booked a room that included breakfast (clearly stated along the whole booking process). The check in staff were adamant it wasn’t and advised I should contact Expedia as they have displayed it wrong. Even after supplying multiple screenshots, displaying “free breakfast” the staff still sent me to call support. After spending an hour on hold then another 30 minutes talking to support they advised breakfast was included and that the hotel hasn’t updated their listing if otherwise. After all that we still did not get the breakfast, I wasted time on my getaway and overall had an unpleasant experience. I understand perhaps things are displayed wrong on other sites however it is the responsibility of the property to review and update their listing. Not a very pleasant experience.

I found the rabbits interesting, the feel overall was good. Maybe a little attention to detail, cobweb in corner of restaurant above where we were seated - small details, but they make a difference. Young staff but they were great. Room was quiet and well presented. Again small details, Bathroom vent needed a bit of a clean, power outlet extension wasn't working for kettle and USB.

We Arrived at 7.30pm, waited at reception for half an hour, searched the bar, the restaurant every space we could enter looking for someone to check us in. We ended up reaching across the counter to see a piece of paper with our name and key, so went about checking ourselves in. We paid $300 to check ourselves In. Then drove around the haunted property looking for our room number, To no avail.. To then finally come across the night guy, who didn’t apologize. Our room was upstairs.. we settled in and went to sleep, finally. Chapter 2, A knock at the door.. is this place actually haunted… who knocks on your hotel door, this doesn’t happen often in our experience at 9.30 when we are asleep.. but after passing the other zombie looking guests in on the way to our room, were unsure of our future…woken by this emotionless soul it’s the night guy…good evening. I parked our car in the wrong spot, and must move it, I offered him the keys to do it himself as by this stage was ready to jump out the window.. he politely refused.. I put my layers back on and moved the car. Thanks for listening, couldn’t get out of there fast enough the next morning, wanted breakfast but didn’t want the potential headaches, so went straight for the well parked car and got out of there. Never have asked this in life, yet Would love our money back, worst hotel experience yet! Stayed the next night at the Robertson for half the price.

Property has a nice country vibe and surroundings. We had a pleasant stay. The check in and check out was ok, however we find that the girl receptionist was friendly and professional while the boy wasn't very friendly and professional at the check in and needs improvement. The Highland Queen room was small and had only one tired chair, smelled like cleaning product a bit at the beginning, but it was warm and after opening the window and getting some fresh air in, it was pleasant enough to sleep. Facilities are a little tired, and the road near the gate has many potholes. Didn't use the pool as it was cold, although it looks like it might need a thorough clean, as the bottom looks a bit brownish. The live music was nice to have although the musicians felt a bit tired and monotonous at times rather than upbeat although the songs they performed were supposed to be upbeat. The breakfast didn't have any gluten free options, the non dairy milk was only soy and it was cold, so the coffee was cold as well. Overall, the experience was still quite pleasant. Surroundings are peaceful and lovely, and it felt like a nice country manor, and not a typical hotel, which is nice.

This is not unique to Peppers but at check in being asked to sign a form consisting of several lines of closely typed detail of legal based terms and conditions without any explanation of what they are in layman's language is regrettable. It is difficult also for the Reception Staff as they cannot explain this detailed document either. If push come to shove I think a magistrate would not support the manner in which the document is served to the customer - either sign it or we won't let you in. Pens are more dangerous than bullets.

We liked that the property was well kept and respected, being an older manor. The staff were excellent in customer service, they were all polite and always trying their best to get what you want or need. The breakfast was also great. The down side to the property is that they are rebranding at the moment and did not inform us. We were impacted by this because there were several new staff members finding their way around still. The staff we not aware of certain discounts available in the restaurant at Katers. There were a couple before us paying and was trying to show membership cards for restaurant discount and staff were not aware of this and in a quiet restaurant, this could be heard by all diners. Can be quite embarrassing for customers. Then we went to pay and was showing another type of discount program that the restaurant was offering, but the staff were unaware of this and was texting someone to ask about it and then ended up calling them. I had to explain the type of card and discount offered several times and staff did not understand and I wasn’t about to give a maths lesson to staff. I was quite agitated and didn’t like the attention I was getting from other customers. I ended paying for the meal and left. Not the kind of feeling I wanted on holidays. The bathroom was small, but fine. The room was not serviced after the first night except for bed being made. No amenities were restocked, we had to ask for several items from reception.

This is my favorite accommodation in the Southern Highlands. Fabulous property to get away and relax in the wine country. Request a room on the hill and you will be able to see wild kangaroos in the morning and early evening just behind the building on the hill top.

The only thing I would comment on is the main building was too hot for being so cold outside. The heating was up too high and it gave me a headache at breakfast. The temperature difference between inside and outside was too great.

Best place to stay in the Highlands. We spent a night here in Autumn and it was magical. The grounds are breaktaking, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable beds. The staff are also delightful and happy to help whivj is always a plus. We are DEFINITELY coming back to stay here, love love loved it!!
