Must stay for local college visits

Posted 25-Mar-2017
Pros: Convenience and service.
We stayed at the Hyatt for college visits at BU and MIT. Close enough to preview Harvard and Tufts as well. Convenient shuttle to major hubs made public transportation easily accessible. Quiet. Great food. Excellent service. It will be our go to place in Boston.

A bit run down, understaffed

Posted 23-Mar-2017
Pros: Decent Gym with new equipment and a nice pool.
Location: Near MIT and nothing else. Nearest restaurants are a 20 minute + walk.
Hotel is in need of a facelift. Old carpet, scratched furnishing, etc. Bathrooms have shower stalls with no tub (which is a plus in my book) but tile and concrete finish. Beds did not have a Hyatt standard bed -- extra firm mattress, thin blanket instead of comforter, no bed covers, no throw pillows. Loud minibar fridge, empty. All less than you expect at a Hyatt Regency at this price. Paid extra for "river view" and put in a room on the lowest floor where you had to crane your neck to catch a glimpse of the city. There were only 2 people on the front desk and it took 40 minutes to get changed to a room on a higher floor facing a better (but not good) direction. Restaurant is "being renovated" so only buffet meals -- i.e. only edible at breakfast. Restaurant seemed understaffed or poorly managed as waiters were mostly surly and hard to attract (except the friendly guy with a pony tail and hair net who seemed to be carrying everyone else's load.) Suitable for a convention of Linux computer hackers, at a cut room rate, which is what was happening. I would be ok with it at 1/2 price.

Overview

Posted 8-Mar-2017
Pros: the staff was very courteous.
Cons: Include breakfast, 1/2 price parking for hotel guests, clean your windows.
Location: Location was convenient for the things I needed to do the following day.
I paid for a window view of the water. The windows were so dirty that you had to angle yourself to see anything. for the price of the room it should have included a breakfast. Instead I had to pay $50 extra, as well as, pay $40 for parking. For the total cost, I could have stayed a nicer hotel. Disappointed....

Close to Boston University

Big thank you to the staff for allowing us to check in early after a red eye flight. Also for giving us a meeting room for my daughter to practice her instrument even though we have already checked out.

Nicer hotel, used for business travel.

Posted 10-Feb-2017
Location: The hotel shuttle is a tremendous help since the hotel itself is not near other venues. Right on the paved path along the river for walking, running.
Nicer hotel, not 5-star but very good. Not walkable to restaurants, but free hotel shuttle will take you to one of three spots in Cambridge that are near food (e.g., Harvard Square) and pick you up when you call them. Restaurant with bar on site- food was good, pricing OK but not pricing to keep you on most road warrior's budget. WiFI with good signal strength, but you are allowed only one device, so it's your computer or your phone or your Kindle, but not a combination. Best on-site health club I've seen in a long time. If you are a swimmer, this site has a proper length pool for laps! Parking on site has a daily charge.

Overnight stay

Posted 1-Feb-2017
The hotel was very nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. I was a little disappointed in the price of the parking garage, I think they can afford to comp the garage or give a significant discount but that is not the case. Otherwise, the hotel was fabulous.

Decent Hotel But Needs Improvement

Posted 23-Jan-2017
Decent hotel amenities but horrible experience. Had a 3 day convention going on during our stay with a bunch of MIT students who took over the hotel. Room next to mine was extremely loud all hours of the day and night did no regard for other occupants/guests. Hotel parking garage availability was awful. Made circles throughout the garage for 40 mins before finding a spot.
