Red Stag Lodge is a spectacular, luxury mountain home in a private setting in the Lodges at Eagles Nest, one of the most desirable and awe-inspiring communities in the mountains of North Carolina. Breathtaking westward sunset views peak through the trees in the winter, overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains and Pisgah National Forest await you. Ensconced by lavish trees and beautiful landscaping, this multi-million dollar custom built home sets the standard for luxury mountain living. This wonderful property is being offered for the first time on the rental market, having been privately owned since it was built in 2006.

Built of the highest grade natural materials in the age-old tradition of cabin craftsmanship, Red Stag Lodge provides an ambiance of picturesque rustic elegance, while at the same time offering all of the modern amenities of a perfect mountain retreat, including multiple large decks, outdoor fireplace, outdoor hot tub, game room, DirectTV (with NFL package), broadband wireless internet, and custom lighting, in addition to high end furnishings, and rustic mountain décor. Offering four levels of living, it is the perfect place to enjoy a family vacation, reunion, ski vacation, or just to enjoy a few days to get away from it all together with close family and friends. The house comfortably sleeps up to twelve people, offering three king bed sleeping areas, plus a separate bunk room floor with a queen bed plus four built-in bunk beds, together with its own mini-kitchen and living area.

Red Stag Lodge's main floor evokes the warmth and coziness of the true cabin lifestyle, featuring a soaring real stone wood-burning fireplace, walls formed from hand-hewn wood timbers, towering wood beams imported from British Columbia, hardwood floors, and custom-made poplar bark cabinetry. The gourmet kitchen contains all stainless steel appliances, rainforest granite countertops, and high-end cookware. Also on the main floor is the master bedroom suite, which has a king-sized bed and adjoining oversized master bath featuring dual sinks, custom poplar bark cabinetry, walk-in closet, state-of-the-art steam shower, and old-fashioned soaking tub. Overlooking the great room is a beautiful loft featuring two king sleeping areas with a full bath, their own deck, and seating area with built-in desk space.

Walk outside of the main floor to enjoy the fresh mountain air and views while relaxing on the expansive outdoor deck, which features a grand wood-burning real stone fireplace, outdoor bar, large custom-built picnic table, and plenty of rocking chairs. You can grill out on the stone fireplace's built-in grill, or use the separate Holland Grill propane chargrill if you prefer. Step around the corner of Red Stag Lodge's wrap around deck to take a dip in the outdoor Tiger River Spas hot tub.

Just below the main floor is the large game room which features a plethora of entertainment options, including top-of-the-line pool table, ping pong table, air hockey table, dart board, and custom-built rustic poker table, in addition to numerous card and board games, providing fun for all ages. It also boasts its own covered deck, and an additional full bath and a sleeping area with a queen size bed. Below this floor is the bunk room level, complete with a queen bed nestled into its own sleeping nook, four built-in twins (bunk) beds, full bath with dual sinks, its own kitchenette, and tv/game area, featuring both XBox 360 and Nintendo Wii, with several games provided for our guests' use.

Unlike many other mountain homes, Red Stag Lodge has fairly level, paved access, proving much less challenging in winter. In addition, this luxury home is perfectly located to take advantage of all of the activities of North Carolina's High Country, with spectacular mountain scenery everywhere you look. Enjoy the gourmet restaurants and excellent specialty and gourmet boutiques of Banner Elk (less than 5 minutes- 3.5 miles - away), Blowing Rock, Linville, and Boone. Plus, outdoor daytime activities abound, including guided or unguided fly fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, trips to nearby Grandfather Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway, as well as white water rafting excursions for the more adventuresome. Red Stag Lodge at Eagles Nest is also ideally located for winter sports, approximately 10 minutes (6.2 miles) to the entrance to Sugar Mountain Resort, and 15 minutes (7.8 miles) to Beech Mountain Resort, both of which offer some of the best skiing on the East Coast. Or enjoy a day of snow tubing at nearby Hawksnest, the largest snow tubing resort on the East Coast - or take a ride on their zip line, which is open all year, weather permitting.

Excellent location and layout. Loved the game room, multiple living areas, hot tub, grills, and large family/great room. This was an annual extended family ski trip. Would recommend this to other larger groups (12+).

Great place for a family stay
Great place - we had wonderful weather. If it had been hotter it would have been an issue. The top floor (2 bedrooms & balcony) had no ductwork for A/C! There were fans - it worked since the weather cooperated (not hot) - but it would not been a place to sleep if it had been 7-10 degrees warmer! This home was advertised as A/C - but that was not accurate. The amenities for families on the mountain were great and we didn't spend much time in the home.

Great Management
Unfortunately due to an unexpected water damage, we were unable to stay at this property. However, I want to note Blue Ridge Rental managing the property were fantastic in all aspects of handling the situation and and I look forward to our next rental in the future.

Spacious and great location but some wonky things
We stayed 3 nights at this property to get some skiing in. 4 families - 7 adults and 7 kids. The house is massive (4 floors) with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The location is great if you are looking for easy in and out from the main gate. Although you don't go very far up the mountain, the views are still nice (shame they built the huge stone fireplace right where the best view is though). The decor is fun, very rustic and log cabin like (love the wood wall in the half bath). The furniture and beds were comfortable except those wooden bar stools in the kitchen (not the saddle ones). Light switches were tricky to find and the lights in many rooms were glaringly bright (I think they were halogen). The dining table is squeezed into the space I would call the foyer. You literally walk in the main door from outside right into the table. There is not a bit of room around it between the door, bedroom, and kitchen. And despite this house sleeping 14 people, you can fit about 8 around the table. It appears to be an afterthought in the design unfortunately. There is only 1 bedroom on every floor of this house (with the exception of the top floor which has 2 king bedrooms with a shared tiny bathroom and a door between the 2 bedrooms) which was not ideal. The bedrooms do not have any view at all. The bunk area is on the very bottom floor and open and below the staircase. It was comfortable for the kids however the problem with this design is that the game room (pool, darts, ping pong, air hockey) is just above it and since the bunk area is open to the stairs, it meant that when the kids went to bed the game rooms is unusable - too much light and noise. We were hoping this would be a great evening hang out for the adults but we were never able to use it because the kids were right there sleeping. If you have light sleepers don't put them on the main floor bedroom near the kitchen - the wall does not go up to the ceiling and the gap between the wall and ceiling throws a lot of noise and light into that bedroom. The bedroom on the game room floor should have a king bed instead of a queen. The kitchen was well stocked and the house had all the amenities we would want. Nice house, we just didn't like the layout despite there being plenty of room.

Excellent location
Beautiful older house that needs some attention. I really think this is a management issue: We arrived and the house had not been cleaned. Management addressed this immediately and the cleaning crew came and they were GREAT! We left so they could clean. Told on arrival that hot tub fixed so we could use it the next day, not that night. Garbage cans were full and had to have this addressed asap. Two property books on coffee table with different trash pick up dates. Lights outside front and deck by fireplace needs new bulbs as they did not work. The gas pipe to the outside fireplace was rusted off ( but we had no problem making a great fire the old fashion way !) The location was excellent! Beautiful older home, great location. Just needs some attention . Simple example: ping pong paddles were old and falling apart. I have recommended someone go through the home to fix things , replace bulbs, etc Only reason for the honest review is that we paid double the price for the Christmas holiday week. It wasn’t cheap and these issues need to be addressed for the next renter. Thank you.
