This cabin was absolutely perfect! The views were absolutely amazing and everything about it was cozy! It was close to many stores, and many great little mountain towns like Boone and Banner Elk! Other than the hot tub not being functional, everything else about our stay was wonderful! We can't wait to come back.
We absolutely loved Solace - it was perfect for our group (4 adults and 3 kids). It was immaculately cleaned when we got there. There was plenty of room for sleeping. The yard was perfect for the kids - gave them a football, let them play and moo at the cows. The drive into Boone was quick and easy, but we got to enjoy beautiful stars and relaxing nights. We are so grateful for such a fun place to stay!
Cabin birthday getaway couldn’t have been more perfect…
The cabin itself was amazing.. very clean, very spacious, and 100% what we expected from online booking. Neighbors are a little closer than it appears in the picture but is still more than enough space to enjoy your getaway. Every topic gets a 5 star except checkin only getting 4 because the initial code I received didn’t work and had to reach out to P.M. for new code. Not at all an issue. Will definitely be rebooking.
Cabin was very spacious, clean and exactly how we expected based on the listing. There were cute fall decorations (we stayed in September).
The neighbor was a little closer than expected based on the listing pictures but we didn't see them much. Communication was good, we were emailed driving directions to the house from the main road, which was very helpful. It was still a little confusing which house was the one despite the driving directions because there was no address sign on the house itself. I had to bring up the vrbo listing to see a picture of the outside of the house to figure out which house it was.
Once in the house, our stay was wonderful.
Checkout was a little confusing. No written directions as to what to do with any used linens-we brought our own so I didn't really need to know but if I had used the linens, no directions were given. I tried to find a rental agreement on VRBO or on the property management app that I was invited to download but couldn't find it. Every other place I have stayed in, even ones that have property managers, have written checkout directions in the house.
Overall, our stay was great though!
The host was great. Cabin was cozy but large enough for our whole family to spread out comfortably. Location was great. It was nice to have a garage to pull the car into on very cold, windy days.
Overall the cabin was a pleasant stay. Clean cabin, great deck, and pretty good view, although partially blocked by some of the trees in the yard. The hot tub was clean and relaxing. The mattresses left a bit to be desired and somewhat deceiving that 3 beds are in the same room (so 2BR not really a 3BR house). The basement day bed is too small for a grown adult.
The cabin was picture perfect! We loved it as soon as we walked in. The online pictures were wonderful, but walking in and seeing the beauty in person was amazing. The views around us were spectacular. It was well stocked from towels, blankets, to any kitchen gadget needed. The hot tub was a well loved feature as well as the rocking chairs and hammock. No matter where you relax, the views are spectacular. We enjoyed our stay very much and want to return next summer.

Wonderful views from the deck
We enjoyed our stay other than a few details. The beds could have been more comfortable, but considering how far we had driven we could sleep anywhere. The view from the deck is beautiful and relaxing, and we loved the hammock! The weather was spectacular. This is a great place to escape from the heat and humidity of the Summer.
On the downside, we did not have anywhere to place our trash. We reported it and we had to collect a weeks worth of trash in the home in the kitchen. We could have left it there according to the owner, but, in good conscience I felt better dropping it off at the dump on our way home. It is about five minutes away.
The biggest problems we had were that our security code did not work so we had to call and get another one to get inside when we arrived. We had
diffficulty maneuvering a full size pick up truck onto the road to the property. The turn is very narrow and sharp with no room for error.
The home is well cared for and clean.
The cabin was nice. There were a few things that would have made it a little better, but it was not a deal breaker. First things, when pulling into the driveway, don’t park in front of the garage. Park to the left of the bushes. We parked at the garage and then walked around to find the door with the code lock on it. Inside of the house, the master bathroom toilet seat was broken. The dishwasher was full of dishes from the previous renters. The washing machine would not drain the water from the clothes, which made washing and drying clothes incredibly difficult. The downstairs was really cold. Luckily the guests that were originally coming with us (with an 8 month old baby) weren’t able to come last minute, I’m not sure that they could have stayed downstairs with no heat. Also, this is the first mountain house we have stayed in that had an envelope on the kitchen table asking for tips, which we thought was odd considering how much we paid for a “cleaning fee” when booking. Other than those things, the cabin was fine. I probably would not choose to stay there again though.

Not a way to start our 3-day vacation
We arrived at our cabin at 4pm Sunday for a 3-day vacation. After unloading, I Immediately I went and checked the hot tub and found it was at 65 degrees when it should be over 100 degrees. I immediately called the Carolina Cabin Rentals office to let them know how disappointed I was. They were shocked as well and walked me through a few steps to try to get the hot tub working. The gentleman I spoke to said he was calling maintenance to put in a high priority order and would call me back.
After about an hour later I was called and notified that maintenance had to drain the hot tub before I checked in because of an issue that couldn't be corrected with chemicals and that I was supposed to be called to be notified of that, but I was never called. I told the representative I never would have checked in if that was the case since my schedule was flexible. I asked about other options since I was completely unhappy and wanted to leave. He assured me it would be taken care of and that they would make it right. He told me that he would talk to the management and would be back in touch the next morning and that they would make the situation right.
The next day I received no calls or follow up. The hot tub took about a day to heat up to operating temperature. I called and spoke to Morgan who told me that everyone was aware of the situation and that it was in deliberations and that he would call me back that afternoon.
I was never called back and I had to call again and I was told again it was in deliberations, but rest assured it would be taken care of and I would be called. It wasn't until the third day where I was called and informed that they were going to give me a $50 credit! I spent $900 for 3 days and I told them a $50 credit was completely UNACCEPTABLE! I reminded them that I was supposed to be called about the issue and that I never would have checked in had I been told the hot tub wasn't working. I asked about a larger refund or extending a day at a discounted rate and was told they would have to call me back. After a few hours I was called back and told that $50 was the best they can do.
It goes without saying, but I will never use Carolina Cabin Rentals again!! And I would recommend that you call before you check in and make sure any hot tub is functioning if its important to you because its obvious that customer satisfaction is not a priority for these folks.
Outside of the experience described above the cabin was nice. Just a few constructive points – there is no hair dryer in the property and the house was not very clean (very dusty).
My family of four, along with our two dogs, enjoyed this VRBO very much. We spent a lot of time out on the beautiful porch. The views were beautiful and expansive and the lawn is impressive. There is a gate on the porch, so our dogs spent a lot of time out there with us, without our worry of them getting out. Lots of room for walking the dogs as well. The house was well appointed and the beds were comfortable! Would stay in this home again! Thank you to the owners for opening up their beautiful home to visitors.
Great Cabin. Beautiful views. Spacious cabin. Love having a basement for the teenagers. Great Hot tub. Driveway needs some minor attention. Hard turn up to the Cabin and, pothole right in the middle.
Our family of five enjoyed our stay at this property. It was a nice size for our needs and the location was pretty convenient to a variety of activities. The house was well maintained and everything met our expectations. The driveway is a little steep but nothing a normal suv can’t handle. The kids enjoyed playing foosball and hanging out on the hammock or in the hot tub when we took breaks from activities in town or hikes. We’d happily stay here again.
We had a great stay. Loved hearing the cows when we woke up in the morning. Our dog loved the back deck and the humans enjoyed the hot tub.

directions improvement
I've been tied up ever since our visit and have not been able to reply or make a review. Just letting you know the directions to the location were very poor. I do not remember the road names at this point, Essentially, GPS stops working after leaving the main road, which is understandable in the mountains, so written directions are needed. There are 3 gravel roads that can be taken immediately after turning off the main road. The directions indicated take a right, but actually the road to the far left is the road to the house. The directions need significant overhaul. Otherwise, the visit was fine. Thanks.
This was the perfect place to stay, with a convenient layout and a great morning view complete with mooing cows in the distance. Hot tub was the perfect end to a long hike at Linville falls. The only thing that would make this stay better would be closer proximity to restaurants. House was clean and beds were comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!

Perfect for small family get-away!
We rented Solace in mid-December and it was perfect. We have two small kids (ages 3 and 6) and elderly grandparents. It was a great rental for the 6 of us...with easy access to the main bedroom and the basement was great for the kids. The views were beautiful and we loved the hot tub. Beautiful back porch. Very clean. Cabin feel. Great fireplace. Nice location close 20 minute driving distance to lots of places.
Note that the steep driveway had a very large pot-hole that was hard to avoid. Also,
the upstairs loft twin bed is not comfortable. All other beds are nice.
