In the centre of Bologna with prestigious furniture and antique pieces of art

Our apartment is located in the wonderful Piazza Aldrovandi. It is the perfect solution for living and discovering Bologna away from conventional tourism, in the most authentic way.
The familiar history of the owners permeates every corner of this apartment with several pieces of original antique furniture and paintings dating back to Renaissance or Baroque periods such as the two large canvases between the main windows of the living room and the two portraits which reveals the influence of some Flemish painter. Over the fireplace you will enjoy a splendid terracotta tondo by the school of Della Robbia with its typical tinted enamel glazes. At the sides two wooden candleholders give a touch of Roman Baroque.
The delicate ceramic framework of the fireplace gives visual force at its sides to a couple of wonderful pieces of furniture: a table console dating back to 1700 and a chest of drawers by early 1800. In the same living room you will enjoy also other important antique pieces of furniture as another chest of drawers, a perfectly preserved Renaissance chest, a slant-front desk whose panel, when closed, conceals a network of cubbies and drawers used for organizing paperwork, a round table with six chairs, various armchairs in front of the fireplace. Two canvases in the Jackson Pollock style, of the 1960s create a sort of contrast between different cultural epochs. In the living room there is no more present the Steinbeck piano shown in the photos of this advertisement.
Into the "studio" room you can rest on an original Wassily’s chair (1925) by the German designer and architect Marcel Breuer. The design reflects the principles of the Bauhaus school where Breuer worked in his early years. This masterpiece was the first designed piece of furniture to incorporate the leather with tubular steel. There is also an original desk as well as a bed manufactured in the late 1950s by Gavina Group. After the War years, Dino Gavina picked up the license for many design items and he got to know the owners of the apartment. The flat has so a wide living room, kitchen, two bathrooms, one bedroom with a double bed and a studio furnished with desk and two single beds. The flat is so able to accommodate up to 5 people.

Tuscan living
My wife and I rented this apartment for 12 days to get some idea of what it would feel like to live in Montepulciano. It was a great experience. There is no elevator to this 3rd floor apartment, but it has good air conditioning. The apartment is spacious for two people, with simple furnishings and decorations, that were everything we needed for our stay. The location is ideal, with parking a short walk away.

Enter Nonni environment and delights
We arrived from New Zealand and found the property such a Bolognaise blast!! A cultural experience in the wonderful Piazza Aldrovandi. Thank you. A blast of heat too. While there were fans in each room they were not sufficient or efficient unfortunately. As climate change progresses the apartment will be greatly helped by either air conditioning or strong ceiling fans. Our host was suberly helpful and adaptable to very late arrival And moving our dates slightly. What would have added to the delights? Small things like chilled jug of water and ice in the fridge; soap in the showers and basins, we needed to empty the last guests rubbish, and cleaning of kitchen and bathrooms seemed minimal. But manageable. Thank you for the experience.

Loved the apartment and the location
The apartment is beautiful. It is spacious and had wonderful windows overlooking the courtyard and the piazza. The kitchen has everything you could ever need (and then more) including a washing machine. We stayed during a heat wave and it was warm but with the windows open at night and fans we were comfortable and slept really well. We were strategic with the shutters during the day to avoid the extra heat. The location is wonderful. There is nothing you cannot walk to with ease. Every time we left our piazza we would wander into another wonderful part of Bologna. Piazza Aldrovandi is lively and so there will be noise from the square late into the night but we didn’t find it bothered us. The main bedroom is at the back and on all but the hottest nights we would close the windows in the kids’ room if needed. While we were there a dance festival was taking place from Thursday to Saturday and we danced the night away right outside our door. There are grocery stores a short walk (under 5 min) away and so many restaurants and bakeries near by. We had pizza from the square several times — delicious. Bologna quickly became a place we wanted to come back to and we would definitely stay in this lovely apartment again.

I Can't Imagine A More Ideal Place to Stay
The location is so central and so fun; you can walk everywhere you might want to go, including right across the street for wonderful food, coffee, people-watching and atmosphere. The huge, antique-filled apartment is fit for for a movie setting. EVERYTHING you could possibly need is there. It truly couldn't be more perfect.

Fantastic
To begin, the apartment is beautiful’ spacious and furnished like a museum. Paintings, anntques, sculpture and documents and awards showing the talents and achievements of the owner’s family going back a century. The location is overlooking a wonderful piazza with active cafes bars restaurants and shops. Filled with young people enjoying coffee or Aportivo at the outdoor tables. An easy walk to everywhere you would want to go. But with a taxi stand and bus stop right in the piazza if you need it. Paolo, the host and Carlotta, his assistant could not have been more friendly or helpful with information about restaurants, the history of the apartment and much more. We had a wonderful week here and recommend it highly. We look forward to staying here the next time we visit Bologna.

We spent five days at this wonderful property. It is like living in an old world palace. Marble and wood floors, antique furniture, and a huge floorplan. The bedroom is very quiet, though the office space is a bit louder, given the square and cafes where students congregate. We enjoyed the street sounds at night; bring earplugs for the office area if you want complete silence. The location is fantastic, and one of the things we always look for in a property… restaurants, bars, markets all within an easy walk. We would love to stay here again.

Faded Elegance
I've been conflicted for the last 2 weeks about this review. We stayed for the month of April 2024 and overall we enjoyed our stay. Firstly rhe positives - the position was fantastic. There were few other options in the centro storico. We were able to walk everywhere including the railway station. The apartment was bright and very spacious. The decoration was “quirky”! There was a lift for those who couldn't tackle the 63 stairs, unusual for an old building. Anything we asked for during our stay was promptly attended to, thank you. However, the check in process was rushed and not comprehensive eg no instructions for the washing machine etc., no list of contact numbers for emergencies, taxis etc as is usual in our experience. Most places also offer a welcome pack of water, wine etc. We were only offered 2 cleaning days in the month, usually it's once a week. I am always happy to do the cleaning myself but it didn't seem to be an option. The kitchen needs to be relaced, as does the furniture in the sitting area. The elephant in the room is the noise from the piazza, every night until 3 or 4 in the morning. It's impossible to sleep in the front room and the noise can also be heard in the back bedroom. It's not possible to open the window because of this. I hope this is a fair review as we've given it a lot of thought. Even though we really enjoyed our stay we probably wouldn't do so again. Cheers, Virginia and Barry (Australia)

Beautiful Apartment in a Lively Neighborhood
This beautiful, spacious, classical Italian style property was the perfect landing spot for our first week in Bologna. On the third floor, ovelooking cafes, wine bars and a vital social scene in the center of University life, we still enjoyed a good night’s sleep in the quiet back bedroom. Then down the elevator and out the front door, we could make our first stop at the cafe just across the street, then head out on foot in any direction to explore this interesting and beautiful city.

Big apartment
Beware. Parking is a big issue with this apartment in Bologna. If you have a car it is highly recommended that you figure out parking before getting there. You are not allowed to drive anywhere in the city center. You cannot even drive in to drop off your bags in front of the apartment without fear of getting a ticket. The apartment itself if very nice. Pretty antique furniture. The park outside is very busy with lots of young people hanging around until very late at night. We were only there for three days. I would not stay in Bologna city center again with a car.

Great large apartment, superb location
Stayed for one week. Excellent location. The piazza is very lively at night. Close to the university. No worries though as the bedroom is in the back🙂 and no problems sleeping. The piazza has everything you need, bakery etc and market stalls on Sunday. Can’t remember if the stalls are there on other days. There is a great restaurant on the corner and green box restaurants and food shops on the piazza. Grocery stores are a few blocks away. The apartment is very large and very homey. If you want modern and sterile this is not the place to stay. We could have stayed a month!

Beautiful old apartment, great location.
The apartment was beautiful with marble floors and lavish antique furniture and art. It felt like a palazzo. The beds and facilities were good quality. However it was hot when we stayed in Bologna and the students gathered in front of the apartment partied all night until about 4am. The windows blocked much noise but then the apartment was too hot. My adult daughter in the front room found it hard to sleep. I still recommend to stay here but to make it comfortable at night the apartment needs air conditioning. The student area is lively and we loved our week in Bologna!

Homage to Scholarship and Art in the Heart of Bologna’s University District
Symphony 12 is many things - all of them good! First of all it is a comfortable two bedroom apartment, very centrally located in Bologna’s historic University district. As such it is ideally suited for wandering the city on foot, enjoying the artistry and protection of the nearly 40 miles of porticoes in the old city. Secondly, it is a decade-spanning time capsule in terms of decor, objet d’arts, family artifacts, architecture, and even some of the kitchen appliances. Finally, it is located on one of the most unique and lively piazzas in Bologna. We began and ended each day at the very welcoming Sartoria; which is a café/bakery by day and a bar/trattoria by night. Also on the square are numerous stalls and cozy restaurants with open air seating and a wide selection of affordable food and drinks. The neighbourhood is full of University students and during our stay the traditional graduation processions, pranks, and street parties were in full swing. This would not be everybody’s cup of tea, but the main bedroom at Symphony 12 is away from the street and we only heard the noise at night as we were closing the front shutters. Another advantage of Bologna’s “foody” scene combined with our location, is that we could choose high or low in terms of spending on meals, but it was all delicious. In summary, Symphony 12 was a great experience in terms of general comfort, cleanliness, location, and opportunities to access local culture.

Spacious, comfortable apartment in a great location. The Piazza is a hangout for the college students, but we were not bothered by the noise at all with the windows shut. We found them all to be polite and respectful.. it is an old apartment with original furnishings which we appreciated. Two bathrooms with showers, although one you stand sideways which is a little unique. Communication wasn’t great as it takes a while to get responses, but it wasn’t a real issue. Would definitely stay again.

A Tasteful Sojourn
There is much to like about this property…my husband and I stayed for three weeks and felt that we were privileged guests of the Landriscina family…the location is wonderful with the food vendors out front, a terrific asset if you like to shop and cook as I do (although the kitchen is a little under-equipped)…the apartment is spacious and furnished tastefully with old and sometimes antique items…there is interesting art, with a number of pieces painted by a member of the family…of particular interest to me as an amateur painter who took art classes during my stay. One negative is the crowds that assemble outside during the night…sometimes it is more than frolicking students…but this was a small negative for us. If you want to have an authentic and old-line taste of Bologna, this may be your place.

The apartment was accurately described. It has an old world feel with lots of interesting art work. Piazza Alvodrandi is very lively, especially at night. It is quite the hangout for college age people and while the Piazza can be noisy, when we shut our windows, the apartment was quiet. Paolo was prompt in meeting us at check in and communicated well during the reservation.

Spacious Apartment within Walking Distance of Major Sites
The apt is as pictured and located on Piazza Aldrovani. Its a nice size with an equipped kitchen. We only made breakfast but it appeared to be an ok kitchen for more extensive cooking.. the bldg having an elevator that worked was great. The bedroom had ample storage for our clothes for a 6 nights stay. Buses run up the street parallel to the apt. There is a taxi stand right out front of the apt but taxis show up on no particular schedule. The train station is about a half hour walk. Bologna is pretty compact and we walked everywhere. Piazza Aldrovani is a very lively one, being popular with the University students. Students hang our regularly in front of the bldg. It gets noisy. Fortunately the bedroom we slept in is in the back and we didn’t need to have windows open at night so the noise wasn't a bother to us for sleeping when we closed the shutters and doors.
