Step into a real-life fairytale at our miniature Hobbit House, a charming and cozy redwood cottage perfect for a romantic getaway or an artistic retreat. Handmade and artful, the cottage is filled with rustic character, from the old-fashioned arched windows to the unique tree branch staircase that leads to the airy loft. Downstairs, you'll find a cozy bedroom featuring a new, all-natural Birch latex queen mattress for sweet dreams. The main floor also includes a lounge area, a bathroom with a vintage clawfoot tub and a warm water bidet, and a hand-tiled, old-fashioned kitchen. The "hobbit" house (self proclaimed) was a perfect get away from the city. The house was clean and cozy. What we weren't expecting was 1) issues with the propane heater that caused us to question whether we were dealing with some type of gas leak (my partner and I both woke up with extreme migraines and the dog vomited out of the blue) and 2) a lack of outlets but a concerning number of extension cords leading us to be worried of a safety hazard. To be fair, we did not contact the owners before we left, but we did email them as we were leaving, about 16 hours after we got there. I am sure that some people wouldn't mind the issues we found as problems, but it is important for renters to have all of the information. ##### Roz C. Loved how fun the layout of this cottage was and the location right in town and so close to the beach. This place has a very eclectic decor and style. Loved the soaking tub out back and all of the skylights. I stayed here with my two small kids and they liked it here alot, we just had to watch them with the stairs/sleeping loft... The cabin is eccentric and and cobbled together in a unique way- I loved all the different textiles and sculptures. The bed in the bedroom downstairs is super comfortable too. VERY quirky and not for those who need room to stretch out or a serene, spare setting. If you’re prepared to enter into a Bolinas mindset and have a bit of an adventure, you’ll enjoy it, but it’s not your average VRBO. The owners do a lovely job of providing all the comforts of home and then some, with helpful pointers and little signs everywhere guiding you through the world that they’ve created. ##### Anne D. It was a terrific base for hikes on Tam, strolls on the mesa, and lots of beach trips. We were thrilled to be able to bring our well-behaved dog with us. (And Sha Sha makes it easy, with plenty of dog towels on hand.) While it was perfect when the weather was good, the place felt pretty small for us with the dog when it rained all day. If you are bringing a pup, I recommend going when it is dry -- you will love it. ##### Alison H. Tiny and cozy, living in the dollhouse of our dream my sister and I enjoyed the unexpected luxury (heated toilet seat!) modern convenience automatic lights, plants and flowers…and BOlinas of course. Even after a week, I would discover something new I hadn’t seen before - quite the artist experience! Beyond comfortable, there is a very pleasant and helpful feeling to the whole property. We adored it all. Bolinas is a treat, it was quite a priveledge to simply walk home from the beach and not have to drive somewhere on 1\. We grocery shopped, ate out, and got coffee at 7am, all within walking distance. We will return, it was a memorable family vacation. ##### Luke A. The space is overall much roomier that presented or expected. Charmingly Hodge podge but all the essentials are there and very nice. While there were 6 working land line phones throughout the house, there were zero in the bathroom or upstairs sun room... All the little but important things are taken care of for you . . . shampoo, body lotion, coffee beans, beach towels (even for the doggie), flip flops for getting out of the soaking tub (wonderful!), warm blankets and quilts. The beach was great for walking the dog and beachcombing. We especially enjoyed the four hummingbirds that darted around the trees and blackberries in the backyard. Thank you, Sha Sha! Four nights is not enough. We hope to stay much, much longer the next time! We LOVE the cottage. ##### Allison C. Jun 17, 2016 #### Felt right at home My husband and I were recently enjoying a road trip through California when we stumbled upon the small town of Bolinas. I contacted Sha Sha the day on extremely short notice (approximately 6 hours before we were set to arrive), and she was so accommodating. When we arrived at the house, we were very happy with how cozy and comfortable this place was- complete with instructions on literally every aspect of the house. We knew the house was heated with a wood stove, but we didn't even need it as the weather was so nice, and spent most of the time either outside in secluded backyard or down the road at the beach. We will definitely be staying here again should we find ourselves in Bolinas! ##### jenny b. To be honest, you need an alternative and open mindset to accommodate this surreal yet cozy habitat. It reminds me of being on a psychedelic schooner and that's a compliment. My wife and I had a delightful time there, especially loving the cozy bedroom and upstairs area where we spent a fair amount of time lounging. Although the outside space is a bit cramped, it is only a five minute walk to the quirkily pleasant downtown of Bolinas and the spectacular, not to be missed, Bolinas Beach. Her cottage blends hi-tech with antique—like big new washer and drier, fancy bidet, large tv’s with a zillion channels, a pair of totally cosy remote controlled recliners, microwave and electric kettle, next to antique paintings and furniture…in a hobbit house with handmade staircase, Japanese soaking tub, all graced with lush fabrics and plants and handmade tiles and Sha Sha’s very amazing art pieces. We experienced her cottage during huge storms with power outages and flooding but still found our time there very special. I can envision the cottage in warm weather as absolutely delicious! ##### Edith M.
